Chapter 567 Owes Me Too Much
Heather always thought she was just plain ol' average, nothing special. She had freckles splattered across her face and usually rocked these black-rimmed glasses that made her look kinda dull. Hardly anyone ever noticed her.
Out of nowhere, a man said her eyes were pretty, and Heather was caught off guard. She mumbled, "My eyes aren't pretty."
"As long as I think they're pretty, that's all that matters. They're bright and beautiful," Yancy said, sounding way more serious than usual.
Heather felt her chest tighten a bit, "Cut it out. I'll come see you tonight, but you gotta send me the video now. I need it ASAP; my boss is on my case!"
"So impatient, huh? Just one night apart, and you already miss me, Anna? Alright, I'll send it. I'll give you whatever you want." Yancy could almost see Heather blushing on the other end and decided to stop teasing. He sent Frank's video to Heather.
Heather hung up, and Yancy stared at the disconnected call. "So heartless."
In Lounge 2, on the computer screen, a crazy scene was playing out.
Rosalie's face was a mix of disbelief, her eyes wide with shock, meeting Natalie's gaze.
Rosalie's fingers were trembling, and her lips were quivering like she wanted to say something, but no words came out.
Natalie had Heather turn off the computer.
Natalie looked at Rosalie. "Now, look at this. Who's the woman in the video?"
Rosalie stammered, "W-why was she doing that? She comes from a good family and is never in want of money. Why would she do this? Someone must be pretending to be her. She has no reason to do this."
"Rosalie," Natalie called her name coldly.
It was the first time she had called Rosalie's name so indifferently.
The little bit of affection she had left for Rosalie had already vanished. It was the first time she found Rosalie so unfamiliar.
Natalie shouted, "Rosalie, I never imagined that after being your daughter for twenty-two years, always thinking you were the closest person to me, I'd end up like this. I sacrificed so much for you, trying my best to borrow money for your illness, agreeing to be Alice's stand-in to cover the high surgery costs, enduring Avery's humiliation. But what did I get in return? Rosalie, you're so heartless. You saw a few photos and thought it was me. You look at the clear, naked video and still don't believe it's Alice. Can't you even recognize your own daughter? Your hypocrisy makes me sick!"
Rosalie was shaking like a leaf, looking like she was about to have a relapse, her lips deathly pale. "I didn't, I just couldn't believe it, Natalie. I didn't doubt you! I just wanted you and Alice to be well. I just hoped you both could live happily. I have no other wishes. I know you have sacrificed a lot for my illness. I owe you too much."
