Chapter 378 Isn't It Too Risky?
Inside a black Land Rover.
"Carlos, what should I do?" Alice looked worried. Her belly was getting bigger, and with the due date coming up, she was more anxious.
The baby was hers and Carlos's. At first, Alice wanted to find a way to abort it, but the Howard family valued the child too much.
She thought about framing Natalie, blaming her for losing the baby, but she needed the child to marry into the Howard family.
As for Adrian, after a few months with him, Alice knew he didn't like her. He married her out of a sense of duty, thinking she saved him at the hotel. He felt obligated but didn't actually care for her.
She tried to get him to go out with her, but he always had an excuse. She even tried seducing him, but he never touched her.
Thinking about how much Adrian cared for Natalie made Alice furious.
"Why? Why does Natalie, a maid, get Adrian's attention? If he finds out she saved him, I'm done."
The more she thought about it, the more scared she got.
She held Carlos's hand. "Carlos, what should I do?"
Carlos looked at her belly, hugged her, and reclined the seat. "Why are you scared? That day hasn't come yet."
"Carlos, you don't get it. The Howard family is all over me about this baby. They check on me every few days. I'm scared they'll find out the baby isn't Adrian's."
With the Howard family so focused on the baby, it was hard for her and Avery to mess with the baby's genetic blood type.
Carlos slapped her butt. "Stop panicking. I'll help you." He kissed her face. "When the time comes, I'll handle it. This baby..." He patted her belly, making Alice yelp. "You scared our baby!"
"I love it when you scream like that." Carlos took a drag on his cigarette, blew the smoke in her face, then put it out and unbuckled his belt.
Since getting pregnant, Alice mostly wore dresses. She lifted her skirt, showing her round belly. Carlos patted her leg; she had gained weight, making her fuller. "Let me get close to our son."
They knew Alice was having a boy, which made the Howard family value her more. Otherwise, Alice wouldn't be so anxious.
Alice screamed. "Carlos, you're so naughty."
"Isn't that why you like me?" Carlos said, getting more intense. Alice kept screaming, biting her lip to stay quiet. The car was parked by the roadside. No one was around, but it was still risky.
She was Adrian's fiancée. If someone saw them, it would be over.
But she loved the thrill.
"Carlos, what should I do? Find a way out for me." Avery kept saying it was fine, but she couldn't calm down. With less than forty days to go, if the baby was born or came early, she had to be ready. If the DNA showed the baby wasn't Adrian's, all her efforts would be wasted.
Avery was too busy with her fight with Curtis to care about Alice's problems. Her mind was on Rosalie.
"I have a plan..." Carlos leaned down. "In two weeks, there's a charity gala hosted by Claire..."
Alice listened closely. "Isn't that too risky?"
Carlos said, "If you think it's risky, don't do it. When the baby comes out and they find out it's not Adrian's, forget about becoming Mrs. Howard. The Cullen family business won't survive in Vachilit."
Alice's eyes darted around. She had no choice but to listen to Carlos.
