Chapter 559: Rosalie Harassed by the Media
Rose whipped out her phone and tried calling Diana, but no dice. Feeling kinda awkward, she muttered, "Just hang tight. The info's gotta be legit."
Actually, she couldn't be sure Diana wasn't feeding her a lie.
Right then, Diana was ghosting her calls.
Rose was starting to freak out.
Out of nowhere, a media guy piped up, "Hey, check it out. That middle-aged lady's been hanging around since this morning, and now she's back."
Everyone turned to look. "She's dressed super basic. Doesn't look like she's rolling in dough."
"Yeah, she's been here all day. I was the first one here, and she was already waiting. She even came back after lunch. Definitely not one of us."
"Think she could be Natalie's mom?" someone suggested.
"No way!" another person gasped.
"Seriously? Natalie's mom wouldn't dress like that. Way too plain."
"Yeah, if she was Natalie's mom, why wouldn't she just go inside?"
Suddenly, everyone was buzzing.
Rose was clueless, too; she'd never met Natalie's mom.
Rose said, "Why don't we just go ask her?"
She walked over and asked, "Ma'am, you thirsty? I got some water."
Rosalie turned around, waving her hands. "No, I'm good."
But Rosalie had been waiting all morning and was parched. She was too frugal to spend a few bucks on water. She licked her lips, and Rose said, "I got an extra bottle. If you're thirsty, please take it."
Rosalie didn't refuse again. "Thanks."
She took a gulp and felt way better.
Meanwhile, Rose asked meaningfully, "Ma'am, what brings you here? Waiting for Natalie?"
She wasn't sure if this lady was Natalie's mom, but her media instincts kicked in. If she was wrong, she'd just play it off.
Rosalie was shocked. "How do you know my daughter?"
Rose's face lit up. "You're Natalie's mom?"
Her voice wasn't low, and the nearby reporters heard and swarmed around Rosalie.
Rose swelled with pride. She didn't have to worry about her performance this month. "Ma'am, why don't you go inside?"
Rosalie sighed. "I can't go in. I'm just waiting for Natalie. Who are you? Don't ask me questions..." She felt these folks weren't up to any good and tried to leave.
The media wasn't about to let a hot story walk away.
"Ma'am, you know about Natalie's photo scandal, right? What's your take?"
"Are those pics really of Natalie? Is there more to the story?"
"Ma'am, you seem pretty modest and can't even get into the Dynamic Entertainment Media building. Is Natalie treating you badly?"
Suddenly, the media mobbed her, firing off questions.
Rosalie was overwhelmed and could barely breathe.
Her ears were ringing, and seeing the crowd, she realized they were all media folks camped outside Dynamic Entertainment Media.
It was like a desert mirage turning into a real oasis; they all rushed over.
Rosalie was stunned. "I don't know. Natalie's not like that. She's always been good. Please, don't make things hard for her or me."
