Chapter 1279 Different Approaches

"Alright, Beatrix and I will come back later to give you and Adrian some space."

Just as Natalie hung up the phone, another call from an unfamiliar number came through.

Natalie looked at the number; it seemed somewhat familiar.

Could it be an investor or a director she had dealt with before?

Natalie turned down the noise of the exhaust fan a bit and answered the call.

She also put it on speaker.

"Hello, you called me before, right? I heard from Jamie that you were asking about Ocean Harmony."

Natalie realized who it was—it was that playboy, "Mr. Callahan."

"Yes, I did call you, but your girlfriend answered."

"She's not really my girlfriend." He mumbled a few words and then got to the point, "I did go in, and it is indeed interesting in there."

Natalie asked, "So if someone hasn't come out after one cycle, is it dangerous?"

"First, either he was kept there. Second, he didn't get what he wanted, so he decided to stay for another cycle. As you know, each cycle is at least fifteen days. Only after one cycle does the ship dock, allowing people to come out and others to go in."

Natalie instinctively thought Derek was the second type.

"My friend wants to go in to find someone. One of his elders is in there."

"Finding someone in there can be both difficult and easy. Some people are gravely ill and have money, so they go in to find top-notch doctors who can save their lives. Others go in to find rare blood type organs like kidneys, hearts, or livers. In my last batch, a millionaire offered $10 million for a heart. People go in for all sorts of reasons. Some even go in to hide."

"What if my friend hasn't come out after two cycles?" Natalie clenched her fist.

"Then it would be very dangerous."

Natalie's expression turned serious.

"When did your friend go in?"

"Just wait."

"What happens if they don't come out after two cycles? Where do those people go?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, "They go to a place like hell, living a hellish life. The first hurdle when you go in is food. If you don't sign the agreement, you don't get to eat. The agreement varies for each person. The moment you step onto the ship, the owner knows all your information—why you're there, what you want. No one can hide anything."

"That's incredible. How did you get out?"

"Rock-paper-scissors."

Natalie thought she misheard, "What?"

"You heard right, rock-paper-scissors. I won, so I got out. My friend lost and was found a month later, dazed and with some mental issues. His father paid a hefty sum to get him out."

Natalie was surprised.

Such a mysterious place, yet it seemed so arbitrary—rock-paper-scissors? Isn't that just luck?

Natalie voiced her doubt.

"Mr. Callahan" said, "Luck is a significant factor in changing one's fate. Sometimes, a little bit of luck can make a huge difference in a person's destiny. On the cruise, everyone has a different way of getting out."
