Chapter 264 Admitting Mistakes

The door to the private room swung open and shut. Adrian squinted at the familiar but blurry figure standing outside.

Raymond grabbed his driver's license and walked out.

He saw Natalie at the door, eyes red from crying, and said, "This is my driver's license!"

Weird. He just went to the restroom and ran into this woman who asked for his ID.

If she hadn't been crying and seemed sane, he would've called the cops.

Natalie looked at the ID: 'Raymond Newman.' Not Ryan.

The light in her eyes dimmed, and her racing heart calmed.

She gave a small, apologetic smile. "Sorry, I thought you were someone else."

"Miss, your way of hitting on someone is too cliché. Seen it all before." Raymond pocketed his license, ready to say more, but Natalie had already walked away down the hall.

Raymond was baffled. "Hey, what do you mean? You stop me, cry, and then just leave after looking at my license? Ridiculous!"

Back in the private room, a guy teased him. "Raymond, why are you back? That woman was crying outside. Why didn't you comfort her? It was a great opportunity."

Raymond sipped his drink and waved it off. "She seemed normal and pretty. Otherwise, I'd think she had issues."

Another guy chimed in, "Maybe she was hitting on you, Raymond. You should've made a move."

"Yeah, she just wanted an excuse to talk to you," added another.

Raymond thought about it and laughed, scratching his head.

Meanwhile, Adrian's face darkened. He shot a cold glance at the teasing guy, who stopped and whispered to his friend, "What's up with Adrian?"

"Who knows," his friend whispered back, "He's so moody."

After Gordon's birthday party, Natalie went home.

She took a shower, letting the warm water flow over her.

Her eyelashes trembled as she thought about Raymond's face. It was so similar to Ryan's. She suddenly opened her eyes.

She and Alice looked alike, so maybe someone else looked like Ryan. But this similar? It was the first time she'd seen it. Raymond's face was identical to Ryan's, and they were about the same age. Was it just a coincidence?

Natalie didn't want to deny it. Deep down, she hoped Ryan was still alive.

She needed to find Raymond again and confirm it.

After her shower, Natalie opened the fridge to prep for the next morning.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

She opened it to her neighbor, Emily Thompson.

Emily said, "Ms. Teeger, you just got back?"

Natalie smiled. "Yeah, went out with friends tonight."

Emily handed her a plate of pizza. "I made too much, so I'm sharing."

"Thanks, Mrs. Thompson." Natalie took it. Her neighbors were friendly. "Anything else, Mrs. Thompson?"

Emily asked, "Ms. Teeger, do you have a boyfriend?"

Thinking Emily might be trying to set her up, Natalie said, "Yes, he works out of town."

Emily looked disappointed. Natalie was beautiful and elegant. Emily had a nephew who'd be perfect for her.

Emily shrugged. "Alright, I won't bother you. Remember to take your keys when you go out. The property management here is tough in emergencies. I once forgot my keys and had to argue for half a day to get a spare."

Natalie felt wary. Why did she suddenly bring up the subject of keys? She remembered her jewelry box being out of order.

"Mrs. Thompson, did anyone come to my house this morning?" Natalie asked.

Emily replied, "Just you."

Closing the door, Natalie leaned against it. Then, she checked the jewelry box again. It wasn't her imagination; someone had been in her house that morning besides her!
