Chapter 1075 Surgery
The two of them held hands so tight, it even moved the medical staff.
Even though they tried to keep it hush-hush, news of Natalie and Adrian's car accident spread like wildfire.
One was a big shot, the heir to the Howard Group. The other was a famous star with a new movie still killing it at the box office.
Their accident sent shockwaves through both the business and entertainment worlds.
In no time, a swarm of media folks gathered outside Sunrise Memorial Hospital, all desperate to get the scoop on Adrian and Natalie.
Some even claimed to have video footage from a car behind them on the bridge, showing a black sedan speeding straight ahead, clearly an intentional act of murder and revenge. Witnesses said the perp had already been nabbed by the cops.
Rumors flew—some said it was a crime of passion, others thought it was business rivalry revenge.
Howard family's bodyguards were all over the hospital, keeping the media out. These guys in black were tough and serious. With no way in, the media clogged up the streets outside, causing a traffic jam.
After two hours, the emergency room doors finally swung open.
Melissa, Joe, and Claire rushed the doctor. "How are they?"
Knowing who he was dealing with, the doctor wiped the sweat off his forehead. "It's not looking good, but we're doing everything we can. Please sign here first."
It was a critical condition notice and an informed consent form.
Claire's heart nearly stopped. She took a step back and fainted.
Joe caught her just in time.
In the end, it was Ruben, hands shaking, who signed the critical condition notice.
Ruben had spent his life battling in the business world, signing deals worth millions and billions. He had signed a critical condition notice for Octavia, who didn't make it through surgery. Now, he was signing for Natalie and Adrian.
Ruben, leaning on a cane, walked with a tremble.
Melissa supported him. "Dad, take care of yourself."
Joe sighed deeply.
'What's the point of all this wealth and power if I can't save Adrian?' Ruben sighed.
Melissa said, "Adrian and Natalie will be fine."
Suddenly, there was a rush of footsteps in the hallway. Heather came running. She'd been in York City for a lunch meeting with a PR manager. As soon as she heard the news, she drove back like a bat out of hell. She stumbled forward, and about 30 feet from the operating room, two Howard family bodyguards stopped her.
Their job was to keep everyone away.
Knowing Heather was Natalie's manager, Rachel let the bodyguards allow her through.
Heather walked over, looked around in shock, felt dizzy, and leaned against the wall. She silently prayed, 'Natalie, you have to be okay.'
The surgery went on for another hour until the operating room doors finally opened, and Natalie was wheeled out.
Everyone rushed to her.
The doctor said, "Mrs. Natalie Howard's injuries are relatively minor, and the surgery went smoothly. She'll be in the ICU for three days of observation."
