Chapter 1052 Divorce
'By now, we're just tired of each other. Sure, Rosalie was my first love, but I really did care about Avery too. I mean, after twenty-five years, how can you not feel something? How many times do you get to live through twenty-five years anyway? And now, here I am, over 50, 'Curtis thought.
Curtis sighed, "Avery, let's get a divorce."
Avery was stunned for a moment. Her face and lips went pale as she looked at Curtis. Even though she had a feeling this might happen, it still hit her hard when he actually said it.
"Curtis," Avery's voice trembled. "Are you serious?"
She looked like she was about to collapse, like all the blood had drained from her body.
Curtis made up his mind. "Avery, we've had some good times and beautiful memories over these 25 years, but your jealousy is out of control. It's even affecting Alice. I just don't have feelings for you anymore. You weren't like this before; you used to be so pure. Sure, you had a bit of a temper, but you weren't unreasonable."
Avery laughed bitterly, tears streaming down her face. "Unreasonable? You made me this way!"
"Even now, you think it's my fault. Avery, you're not the pure and innocent person you used to be." Curtis sighed, "I'll have the lawyer come over to discuss the division of property with you."
With that, he left.
Avery watched Curtis walk away, crying. Suddenly, everything went dark, and she crumpled to the floor.
Renee quickly ran over. "Mrs. Cullen, Mrs. Cullen, are you okay?"
Later that evening, Natalie and Adrian came to the hospital to visit Daniel.
Daniel had injured a nerve in his hand and needed surgery.
Melissa had already contacted the best medical team.
The surgery was scheduled for tomorrow.
Ruben, though he didn't show it, was also worried about what had happened. "I can't even imagine what would have happened without you."
Daniel lay on the hospital bed. "I was close by, so I managed to block it, but if that knife had hit Natalie... I can't even think about it. Alice was so reckless, it was terrifying."
Melissa looked at Daniel, thinking, 'How can I not know Daniel's feelings? Natalie is the person he likes, so of course he protected her. I feel sorry for Daniel, but I'm not going to blame Natalie. It's not her fault.'
Adrian and Natalie entered the ward, seeing Ruben sitting on the couch. "Grandpa."
Ruben nodded. "You're here."
Daniel looked at Adrian. "You didn't have to come just to see me. I'm fine, just hurt my hand."
Melissa said, "A hand injury is no small matter. Nerve damage can be serious, and if it's not properly treated, it could have lasting consequences."
"Mom, it's not as serious as you say," Daniel said.
Natalie bit her lip, "Take good care of yourself. Adrian and I will come to see you often."
