Chapter 1088 Everyone Left

"But I never thought someone like that would turn out to be my real mom," Natalie said.

Heather was floored. She thought, 'I know Rosalie and Natalie have beef, and that Rosalie isn't her real mom. But Avery? Seriously? If Avery's Natalie's mom, then who's Alice's real mom?'

Natalie saw the shock in Heather's eyes and gave a bitter smile. "Yep, Alice is Rosalie's daughter. Crazy, right? When I first found out, I thought it was nuts too. The person I hate the most is my real mom. It's a joke. I busted my butt making money and doing everything I could for Rosalie's kidney transplant. But Rosalie's not even my real mom. She swapped me and Alice at birth out of selfishness, and now my life's a mess."

Heather finally got why Natalie hated Rosalie so much.

What hit Heather even harder was that Avery was the one who tried to kill Natalie and Adrian, leaving Natalie bedridden for a month and Adrian in a coma.

She finally understood the kind of pressure Natalie had been under.

Heather hugged Natalie.

Natalie's throat felt tight, wanting to cry but having no tears left.

She looked up at the dim night sky outside the window.

There were barely any stars tonight.

Natalie's gaze was distant and faint. "I wish it was me in that hospital bed, not Adrian. All of this is because of Avery's jealousy. It should've been me. Adrian held me and gripped my hand tightly when we fell into the lake. So many people want me dead, but only Adrian truly protected me."

Meanwhile, at the Cullen Group Building.

The Cullen Group had rented two floors here. Curtis looked like he'd aged overnight. He knelt by the window, staring out. The window was open, and the night wind was fierce. His gaze was hollow. Curtis had lost a lot of weight in just a few days. His phone kept ringing. The Cullen Group, which he had poured so much effort into, was done for.

Everyone in the Cullen Group had left, leaving him alone.

Even the female secretary who had been with Curtis before knew he was buried in debt and bailed immediately.

Curtis stood up, sighed deeply, and laughed bitterly.

Two years ago, when Alice had just announced her engagement to the Howard family, Curtis was the center of attention. People lined up to kiss up to him. Now, it's just laughable.

Curtis walked to the liquor cabinet, grabbed a bottle, and took a few swigs.

His phone kept ringing non-stop.
