Chapter 1040 The Person with the Same Voice
Heather walked over. "Yancy?"
On the other end of the phone, a voice she knew all too well came through. "Look, we had our fun, but it was just a fling for me. Don't take it too seriously."
Heather's face went pale, his words hitting her like a ton of bricks.
'But that's Yancy's voice. I know it is. How could he say something so heartless? There must be some mistake,' Heather thought. "No, Yancy, is there some kind of misunderstanding here?"
"No misunderstanding. I just realized we're from different worlds. What we had was just a whim for me. Let's break up. Don't contact me anymore."
"No, Yancy. What are you saying?" Heather's voice shook.
She couldn't believe it. She had gotten used to Yancy's kindness. He always said he'd be there for her. This had to be fake.
"No, you're not Yancy. You're trying to deceive me, right?" Heather looked at Cassidy. "You found someone who sounds like Yancy to trick me, right? It's impossible!"
On the other end, Yancy sneered, "You really are as clingy and persistent as I thought."
"Mom, I have something to do. I'm hanging up. Handle it however you want. I don't want to have any more contact with this woman," Yancy said to Cassidy and then hung up.
Cassidy smiled and picked up the phone. She looked at Heather's pale face, took out a bank card from a book, and handed it over. "There's five million dollars on this. Take it and leave. Yancy has made it very clear."
Heather bit her lip. "I want to see Yancy. If he tells me in person that we're done, I'll leave."
'I'm not someone who clings on. If Yancy really doesn't like me anymore, I'll leave without hesitation. But if Cassidy is threatening Yancy, then no matter what, I'm willing to stand by his side. I believe in Yancy. No matter what lies ahead, I'm willing to face it with him. I don't want Yancy to face this alone. I have to see Yancy!' Heather thought.
Cassidy looked at Heather. "Heather, you're really too stubborn."
"Mrs. Reynolds, no matter what you say, I have to see Yancy. I don't believe a word of what was said on the call. Don't think that finding someone who sounds like Yancy to deceive me will make me back down. I promised Yancy I'd always stand by his side," Heather said.
"This is the last time I'm offering the money to you. If you don't take it this time, there won't be another chance," Cassidy said.
"I don't care about this money," Heather said.
"Of course, being around someone like Natalie, relying on such a big shot, you naturally wouldn't care about a few million dollars," Cassidy stood up. "Fine, I'll give you a chance to see Yancy. But after this, I hope you won't cling to Yancy anymore. He's going to get engaged to a wealthy heiress. Your presence will only mess things up.
