Chapter 991 Getting the Marriage Certificate

In the evening, Natalie got back to her apartment. She opened the fridge and saw two unopened bottles of beer still sitting there.

She checked the expiration date; they were still good.

Lately, Natalie had been through a lot, and every time she thought about it, it felt so weird and unbelievable.

She sat on the balcony, staring at the city lights outside.

She reached out and touched them, like she could almost grab the stars.

Natalie smiled as the cold wind blew her hair around, making it dance in front of her face and blocking her view.

That night, Natalie got drunk. She crashed on her bed and had a dream.

In the dream, she saw herself as a kid. That earthquake had turned Silvervale Town into ruins. Her grandma was barely hanging on.

Then Stanley showed up to pick her up, and there was a kind woman in the car. That was Rosalie.

Because of that, Natalie's life took a turn, not the one she wanted, but it just kept getting worse.

Natalie ended up at the Cullen Mansion, where there was no happiness, just endless oppression.

Avery found ways to torment Rosalie, while Alice was earnest to bully Natalie.

Back then, Natalie's wrists were covered in cuts, and Rosalie said it was because Alice was too young to understand, that she wasn't really bad. Now it seemed like Rosalie had her reasons for being kind to Alice.

Alice made Natalie eat leftovers and climb tall trees to get badminton shuttles. Once, she fell from a tree and broke her legs. Alice even blamed her, saying Natalie hit the shuttlecock into the tree too hard.

The next morning, Natalie got a call from Adrian.

Adrian said he wanted to take her somewhere.

At 9 AM, Natalie went downstairs, and Adrian's car was waiting at the entrance.

Natalie was a bit surprised, "How did you get in?"

The security in this neighborhood was super tight.

Then she remembered the whole neighborhood was owned by the Howard Group. "Where are you taking me?"

"Did you bring your ID?" Adrian asked.

"Yeah, I did." Natalie said, opening her handbag to show her wallet.

She looked at Adrian, who smiled and asked, "Natalie, would you stay by my side forever?"

Natalie was stunned and started to get what Adrian was up to.

Adrian wanted her to stay one more day.

Today was Monday, and City Hall was open.

"You!" Natalie widened her eyes.

Adrian was driving and blurted out, "Natalie, I wanted to wait until you finished filming in York City to get married, but I can't wait any longer. Natalie, I want you to be my wife. Will you?"

Natalie reached out and touched the diamond ring on her necklace. She gently caressed it. "Yes, I will."

The car stopped at the entrance of City Hall.

Natalie got out, and the morning sun felt just right, bringing a bit of warmth.

Adrian held her hand, and in his other hand, he had a manila envelope with all the necessary documents.

With their fingers interlocked, they walked in.

They weren't too sure about the process, but an hour later, it was all done.

Natalie had a marriage certificate in her hand.

She couldn't believe she was really with Adrian.
