Chapter 197 Disappointment
She bit her lip, applying more pressure.
They didn't speak the entire way.
Natalie's phone vibrated. She took it out and saw that Daniel was calling. She answered quietly, "Hello."
"Natalie, are you home yet?" Daniel asked.
Natalie glanced at the traffic ahead. It was jammed. "Not yet, there's a traffic jam."
"Okay, make sure to pack well tonight and bring a few extra outfits. See you tomorrow. By the way, is Adrian next to you? Hand the phone to Adrian," Daniel uttered.
"I..." Natalie handed her phone to Adrian, who was sitting about two seats away.
Adrian took the phone. "Hello."
"Adrian, Natalie is my classmate. You know I've always liked her. Make sure she gets home safely. Even if you have something to do, ensure she gets home first," Daniel said.
Hearing the word "like," Adrian frowned slightly. "Okay."
"Natalie, you really have some skills." After hanging up, Adrian sneered coldly. He looked at the phone in his hand, a very ordinary model, heavily worn. It suggested its owner was quite frugal. However, Adrian recalled the day Natalie came to the Howard family, wearing a pink dress that was not a cheap brand. She was clearly trying to seduce Daniel, dreaming of marrying into a wealthy family!
Natalie was hugging both Jagger and Daniel just now.
"I don't understand your meaning," Natalie said, reaching to take her phone back from Adrian, but he grabbed her wrist tightly.
"Mr. Howard, please have some respect!" Natalie shouted.
"Why didn't you learn to have respect when you were seducing me?" His other hand pinched her chin, his thumb brushing over her lips. "Hearing the word 'respect' from you is truly ironic."
"Fine, Mr. Howard. Please let go." Her body was slightly bent, her V-neck sweater revealing a bit too much. She quickly covered her chest with her other hand.
Adrian's eyes showed even more contempt. "You were hugging two men, and now you're pretending to be innocent in front of me!"
'She initially tried to seduce me but failed, so she immediately set her sights on Daniel,' Adrian pondered.
Natalie didn't expect Adrian to have seen that. Fearing he might cause trouble for Jagger, she quickly said, "Dr. Kamel and I have broken up. There's nothing between us. We just ran into each other by chance, and he already has a girlfriend."
Adrian didn't believe what she said. His gaze fell on her wrist. Because of her struggle, her sleeve had rolled up slightly, revealing a scar.
The scar had faded.
He remembered Natalie suddenly stepping in front of him, and that scar was the result.
Adrian stared at the scar, slowly releasing his grip.
His chest felt a mix of emotions he couldn't quite describe.
"Natalie, stay away from Daniel. I don't care if you try to seduce other rich men, but not Daniel," Adrian warned.
Natalie laughed.
She rubbed her wrist, looking at Adrian.
"Oh, not Daniel? Then, what about you? Can I seduce you?" Natalie's lips curled into a smile. "How dare you dictate my life? You made me break up with Jagger and threatened me with his job. I accepted it. But why do you keep interfering in my life?"
The light inside the car flickered.
Adrian's face was in the shadows.
Looking into Natalie's clear yet mocking eyes, Adrian was silent for a moment. "Natalie, I always thought you weren't as bad as what I found out."
Natalie's eyelashes fluttered.
Adrian seemed to sigh almost inaudibly. He seemed somewhat disappointed in Natalie.
