Chapter 795 A Solo Christmas

It was the latest winter collection that dropped last month.

As soon as it hit the shelves, Alice snagged one for herself. However, it could have been better if it were a gift from Adrian.

Alice peeked at Adrian and noticed he wasn't paying her any mind. She breathed a sigh of relief, thankful he didn't call her out.

Across the room, Thalia saw Alice's cheeks turn pink when she glanced at Adrian and assumed she was just being shy. Thalia said, "Alice, I'm so jealous of you."

Alice felt a pang of guilt, worried that if the conversation kept going, Adrian might spill the beans. She quickly switched topics. "Thalia, what shade is your lipstick? It's gorgeous."

Interested in makeup and jewelry, Thalia soon forgot all about Alice's brooch.

Thalia was Ruben's cousin's daughter and often hung around the Howard family, always trying to get in their good graces, so she tried her best to butter up Alice.

After dinner, Adrian headed to the terrace with a few of his brothers. Surrounded by a bunch of people, Adrian pulled out his phone and checked the time. It was already 9 PM, and he wondered when this dinner party would wrap up. He still wanted to head back and see Natalie.

Today, a lot of Howard family relatives were around, both close and distant. As the head of the Howard Group, Adrian couldn't just bail.

Adrian shot Natalie a few messages on Facebook.

Adrian: [I might not make it tonight. You should get some rest.]

Adrian: [Merry Christmas, Natalie.]

Just after sending the messages, an elder came over to chat with Adrian. He put away his phone and made some small talk. After the comings and goings of a few more relatives, he checked his phone again. It was already 9:30 PM, but Natalie still hadn't replied.

Adrian figured Natalie had probably crashed early and sent another message.

Adrian: [Tomorrow, a lot of guests will be at the Howard Mansion. I'll find some time in the evening to be with you.]

Back at the apartment.

Natalie had drunk too much. She was slouched on the couch, watching some boring TV show. The air reeked of alcohol, but her mind was surprisingly clear.

Natalie lay on the couch, curled up. Her phone buzzed, and she saw Adrian's message saying he wouldn't be coming back tonight. She wanted to reply, but her fingers were too weak to hold the phone, and it slipped onto the carpet. She didn't bother picking it up.

Natalie closed her eyes, listening to the TV in the otherwise silent room.

She fumbled for the remote and cranked up the volume.

In her mind, she wondered if Adrian was having dinner with Alice and introducing her to all the Howard family's relatives.

That night, Natalie fell asleep on the couch. When she woke up in the morning, her head was pounding. She looked at the clock on the wall and realized it was already 10 AM.

Natalie had plans to catch a movie with Bella. The movie "The Nameless Road," starring Natalie, had just come out.

Natalie sat up, washed her face, put on some light makeup, ate some leftovers from the night before, and headed out.

Derek never took a day off, even the holidays. Natalie had told him to take a week off for Christmas, but Derek refused. He only said that if it was a personal trip, he could help keep it a secret.

As Natalie walked out of the apartment building, the car was already parked at the door. Natalie got in and gave Bella's address.
