Chapter 604 A Trap

Ava shot him a look, "Who keeps blowing up your phone?"

The number had buzzed three times straight. When Frank didn't pick up, a text popped up: [Frank, it's me, Aiden.]

Frank let out a sigh of relief and quickly answered. "Aiden, why'd you switch numbers?"

Aiden, an old buddy from back in the day, was five years older than Frank. He'd made some cash, started investing, and was living the good life now.

Aiden said, "Moved to a new city. Needed a new number. Just got back yesterday and thought of you. Let's grab a drink."

Frank was laying low because of that video and didn't dare step outside.

"Aiden, I can't. I've got a nasty cold and can't drink. Really sorry, man." Frank was busy finding a hideout to save his skin.

Aiden said, "That's a bummer. Frank, something up? You don't seem like yourself. Need some cash? I can scrape together a few grand. Just let me know if you're in a bind!"

Frank had borrowed from loan sharks and was dodging everyone. He'd hit up all his friends and family, but they all ghosted him. Aiden's offer hit him hard. "Aiden, man, that means a lot. Let's meet up tonight, have a drink and chat."

Aiden said, "Cool, I've been away from Vachilit for years. You pick the spot."

Ava asked, "Who was that? You going out? It's risky right now."

Frank said, "Just an old friend. Don't worry. It's safe. You stay here. I'll head out tonight."

Ava reminded him, "Be careful."

That night, Frank snuck out to a low-key restaurant in the next district and sent Aiden the location.

Aiden showed up quick, "Why this place? How you been?"

Frank took a swig of his drink, "Man, I've been living like a broke joke!"

Aiden pulled out two stacks of cash and slid them over. "If you're in trouble, just say so. Take this. If you need more, let me know. We're friends, I got your back."

Frank was choked up. He didn't care anymore and downed a whole bottle with Aiden.

Frank then spilled, "It's been hell. I pissed off the wrong people, and now I'm a wanted man. Can't even step outside."

Aiden listened, "Is it safe for you to be out now? My bad for dragging you out."

Frank said, "It's cool. This place is off the radar. No one knows me here. Chill."

Aiden took a sip, "Who'd you piss off? I have some connections. Maybe I can help."

Frank said, "Not sure exactly. Slept with a rich girl back in the day. Now she's marrying into money and wants to erase her past. She's hunting me down. If she paid me to keep quiet, fine, but she's ruthless. A buddy who hid me got stabbed and is in the hospital."

Frank was sure it was Alice's crew who stabbed Yancy.
