Chapter 458 Sunset Feathers

Natalie had no idea about Alice's trap, but she wasn't worried. She pushed open the door and saw Alice sitting on the bed, all dolled up like she was ready to throw down.

Rosalie, worried Natalie might start something with Alice, jumped in between them. "Alice, these are flowers Natalie got for you. Hope you get better soon."

Alice's face soured a bit at the sight of the carnations. Those were for old folks, and the wrapping was hideous. But she kept her cool. "Rosalie, have a seat. I had someone cut up some fruit."

Alice had never been this nice to Rosalie before; today, she was all polite and sweet.

Natalie was a bit thrown off, not sure what Alice was scheming.

Alice said, "Natalie, I know I've messed up before. I was young and dumb and used to pick on you. I hope you can let it go and forget all that bad stuff."

Natalie was stunned. She pursed her lips, eyeing Alice. What was she really up to with this sudden apology?

Rosalie was thrilled to see Alice apologizing. She'd always felt bad for Natalie and had spoiled Alice too much. A mistake from her youth had snowballed, and now it was too late to fix. Her health was always shaky, and her biggest wish was for Alice and Natalie to make up.

She knew Natalie was kind and patient, while Alice was a brat who always bullied Natalie. But now that Alice was owning up to her mistakes, she looked at Natalie. "Natalie, forget the past. You and Alice are practically twins who grew up together. It's destiny. You're like sisters. Let go of the bad times."

Natalie looked at Rosalie. In the past, she would've rolled her eyes, slammed the door, and bailed, ignoring Alice's antics. But now, seeing the hope in Rosalie's eyes, she couldn't say no.

Natalie knew Rosalie always wanted her and Alice to get along. She didn't want Rosalie stressing over this anymore, so she nodded. "Mom, you don't need to worry about us."

Forgetting the past was a no-go. She'd never forget what Alice had done to her.

"I'll take that as a yes," Rosalie said with a smile, grabbing Natalie's hand with one hand and Alice's with the other, squeezing them together.

Natalie's other hand clenched into a fist behind her back, then relaxed.

Today, Natalie was rocking a bracelet. Others might not know its worth, but Alice, who was all about luxury, definitely did.

Alice's eyes zeroed in on Natalie's wrist, narrowing sharply.

This bracelet was decked out with yellow sapphires and diamonds, and it was worth a pretty penny. The designer, Verono, a big shot in jewelry, called it Sunset Feathers. It showed up at the Vachilit underground auction three months ago. Alice had asked Adrian to bid on it for her, but she never heard back.

She hadn't expected to see it on Natalie's wrist. Her expression changed instantly.

Natalie noticed the shift in Alice's face. She saw Alice take off a necklace and hand it over. "Natalie, this necklace is really special to me. I'm giving it to you as a sign of our new friendship. How about we trade, and you give me your bracelet?"

Natalie smiled, thinking, 'So that's her game. She wants my bracelet?'

This bracelet was a gift from Adrian. Natalie didn't know the exact price, but she had a good idea of its value.

Even a hundred of Alice's necklaces wouldn't be worth a single small diamond on her bracelet.
