Chapter 393 If Only It Had Been Her
She puckered her lips, then flashed a killer smile. Working at the Imperial Nightclub meant makeup was a must, and Natalie usually kept it light. But tonight, her lipstick was poppin'.
Her eyes were still red from crying, which oddly made it hard for Adrian to look away. She said, "Adrian, the Four Seasons Hotel is for rich folks like you. Someone like me wouldn't even make it past the door before getting the boot."
Adrian suddenly felt a pang of regret. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but his chest felt tight.
He looked at her smile, feeling something he'd never felt before. If only it had been her that night.
The next morning, after Simon wrapped up his business, his assistant Peter stood by with some papers. "Mr. Anderson, there's something I think you should know."
"Spill it," Simon said, taking off his glasses and rubbing his nose bridge.
Peter said, "This morning at 8, my guy got a call saying Brice, the assistant from the Howard Group, contacted Quentin to get a female manager named Emma fired from the Imperial Nightclub."
Simon raised an eyebrow. "The Howard Group? Adrian?"
Peter nodded. "Yep."
Simon frowned a bit. He knew all about the famous Howard Group, but did a female manager really need Adrian's assistant to make a personal call?
Simon said, "Alright, handle it."
This kind of small stuff usually didn't need his attention, but since it involved the Howard Group, it was kinda interesting.
Simon asked, "What's the deal with Emma?"
Peter replied, "Not sure. Brice said it was Adrian's order. He doesn't want to see Emma at the Imperial Nightclub before next Monday. Seems like..."
Simon glanced at Peter. "Spit it out."
"Seems like it's to please a chick named Natalie Teeger, who works as a waitress at the Imperial Nightclub and apparently doesn't get along with Emma. After hooking up with Adrian, she had him fire Emma."
Simon silently repeated the name, "Natalie."
He had no clue who she was or what she looked like, but he was curious. "When did the Imperial Nightclub get such a badass waitress who can be with Adrian? I really wanna meet her."
Peter asked, "Mr. Anderson, should I bring her here?"
Simon said with a sly smile, "Adrian's girl, I should meet her myself."
Peter remarked, "But I heard Natalie is quitting next Monday."
Simon said, "Makes sense. Hooking up with Adrian, she doesn't need to work at a nightclub."
Natalie showed up at Bayview Villa at 9:30 AM. The place was decked out. No wonder it was one of the top ten estate villas in the country.
She rang the doorbell, and Lucky opened the door. Lucky got all excited when he saw her, jumping up to pounce on her. Lucky was almost heavier than she was, and Natalie could barely hold him, stepping back a couple of steps before managing to hug him. "I haven't been here for so long. Did you miss me? Do you still remember me?"
Lucky wagged his tail like crazy.
Natalie patted his head. "Since you still remember me, I've got a gift for you."
She pulled out a white fur ball from her bag. It was solid and heavy. She tossed it forward, and Lucky immediately ran to bite the ball and play with it.
The ball was made from Lucky's own shed fur. Smelling the familiar scent on the ball, Lucky played even more happily, bringing it back to Natalie. Natalie threw it outside again, and Lucky fetched it back, repeating the cycle a few times. Natalie threw it forward once more.
Just then, Adrian came downstairs.
The fur ball rolled to his feet, and he bent down to pick it up.
