Chapter 1029 The Truth Behind Andrea's Coma
Natalie thought for a second and nodded. "Alright."
Rachel said, "I'll come get you."
Today, Rachel didn't bring her sports car; she was driving a regular sedan.
They pulled up at the hospital.
Rachel knew Andrea's room, so Natalie just followed her. They got off the elevator, turned a corner, and saw a crowd gathered outside a ward. Natalie recognized a few familiar faces.
They walked over.
Inside, a girl lay weakly on the bed, barely breathing. Her eyes fluttered like she couldn't believe she was awake.
"Andrea," a shaky voice called out. Claire was sitting by the bed, gently saying her name.
Adrian and Jamie were there too, even Ruben had rushed over.
"Andrea."
"Andrea."
The room was packed, with Natalie and Rachel standing outside.
Natalie looked at the Howard family members who had come, realizing how important the girl who had just woken was.
Andrea's voice trembled, "Where am I?"
Just then, a doctor walked in. "The patient just woke up, and her vital signs are still unstable. She's been in a coma for a long time, so speaking will be uncomfortable at first. She'll feel better in a few days."
Ruben asked worriedly, "Doctor, now that she's awake, is she out of danger?"
The doctor replied, "We still need to run some specific tests."
The Howard family members left as the doctor said the patient needed some fresh air.
Ruben, Melissa, Joe, and Claire all stepped out, leaving only Adrian and Jamie inside.
The door to the room closed.
"Rachel, Natalie, you guys are here too," Melissa said.
"Yeah, I came to see Andrea," Rachel said. "I called Natalie and asked her to come along."
"Everyone should go back. I'll stay here," Melissa said.
Ruben nodded, "Let me know right away if there's any news."
"Got it," Melissa said.
Natalie also turned to leave, her eyes lingering on the door. She seemed to understand that the woman inside the room held a special place for Adrian.
On the way back, the Howard family had a car to take Ruben and the others.
Natalie still rode in Rachel's car. She asked, "Why was Andrea in a coma for so long? You mentioned an accident. What happened?"
Rachel sighed, "Andrea was trying to save Adrian."
Natalie's eyelashes fluttered as she pressed her lips together.
"Andrea is Jamie's younger sister. The three of them—Jamie, Adrian, and Andrea—grew up together. Jamie and Adrian were especially close. The reason they became distant is because of Andrea's incident. Andrea has been in a coma for almost eight years. I was still young back then, and my family didn't tell me much. I vaguely remember my mom mentioning something about a kidnapping. Andrea was severely injured while saving Adrian, with no signs of life at the time. The Howard family brought in the best medical team from both home and abroad, and after a day of emergency treatment, they managed to save Andrea's life."
Rachel gripped the steering wheel tightly, "Andrea has suffered so much."
Natalie said, "So it was because of that kidnapping that Andrea ended up in a coma until now."
