Chapter 618 Avery Gets Angry

That lady asked, "Mrs. Cullen, how's Alice been holding up lately?"

Avery chimed in, "She's doing great."

That lady went on, "Since she's all better, you should totally set the wedding date soon. The Howard family isn't something everyone can snag. We're all so jealous of you, having such a smart and well-behaved daughter like Alice."

Avery's face lit up with a proud grin, soaking in the praise from the rich ladies. Marrying into the Howard family was like hitting the jackpot. Thanks to this hookup, the Cullen Group's profits had more than tripled this year, with business partners lining up.

Avery threw in a polite fib, "Your daughter is pretty awesome too."

After another round, Avery won easily. Even though the other rich ladies lost, they didn't dare say a word. As long as Alice was Adrian's fiancée, they had to bow down to Avery. No one wanted to mess with him.

Avery suggested, "Let's call it quits. I'm beat. Let's take a break."

She looked at Renee. "Where's Alice? Why don't she even come down and greet everyone?"

Renee replied, "Ms. Cullen got back super late last night. She's still sleeping."

"She's getting more and more out of line," Avery frowned. "She's becoming more and more disrespectful."

That lady said, "Oh, come on, she's grown up. Let's cut her some slack."

"Wake Alice up. Look at how she's acting," Avery insisted.

Renee had the servants bring up coffee and desserts, then went upstairs to Alice's bedroom door and knocked. Alice was still out cold and in a foul mood when disturbed, yelling, "Leave me alone!"

Alice had been stuck in the hospital last night because of a camera set up by Heather, and she was wiped out.

Renee stood at the door. "Ms. Cullen, Mrs. Bell and the others are here. They're in the card room. Mrs. Cullen wants you to go greet them."

Alice turned over, then sat up and reluctantly shouted, "I know!"

That lady called out, "Oh, this name sounds so familiar. Mrs. Bell, doesn't it ring a bell for you?"

This lady was all about the news—entertainment, sports, and so on. She'd scroll through Facebook and TikTok every day. Right then, she was holding her phone, chatting with Mrs. Bell about the latest gossip.

Mrs. Bell opened Facebook and took a look. The top trending news was about Alice.

Mrs. Bell replied, "I remember this person."

Mrs. Bell was a long-time close friend of Avery and naturally knew some things about Avery's family. Her expression turned complicated. "Avery, Rosalie, wasn't she a former housekeeper of yours?"

Mrs. Bell still remembered that housekeeper, who was quite ordinary-looking, around the same age as Mrs. Bell and Avery, somewhat thin.

She didn't leave much of an impression, but the name sounded very familiar. Could it be the same name?

Avery took a sip of coffee. Hearing the name Rosalie, he was momentarily stunned, his face turning sour as if he felt very uncomfortable. "Why are you bringing her up?"

Mrs. Bell asked, "Avery, do you never follow entertainment news or use Facebook?"
