Chapter 641 She Was Already Numb
A bunch of fans were always saying Samuel was the chillest actor around. He never threw shade at other actors and was always hyping up the newbies.
Working on a film with Samuel was a pleasure.
Samuel grinned. "Matthew, you're such a gossip."
"Well, duh. I'm curious. Oscar, aren't you curious? Samuel, who's been in like a hundred movies in ten years with zero drama, getting all cozy with a new actress."
Oscar nodded. "Yeah, I'm curious, especially since they're the leads in my movie."
Matthew took a bite of his beef and nodded. "Honestly, Natalie is perfect for Zoey. It's like Zoey was made for her. The first time I saw her pic, I was blown away. No clue about her acting, but that can be worked on. The look is what matters." He looked at Samuel. "You're not exactly the best fit for Landon. Landon's a young rookie cop, and you’ve got a more mature vibe. But your acting is top-notch. So, spill it, Samuel, did you take the role 'cause of Natalie?"
Samuel coughed. "Is it that obvious?"
"You got a thing for Natalie?" Matthew checked around to make sure no paparazzi were lurking, then lowered his voice.
Oscar's eyes went wide.
Samuel said, "I've known Natalie for a while now. We met about a year and a half ago. She wasn't in the entertainment industry yet. She was different, you know? Her eyes were so clear. Even when people were trashing her, she stayed classy, her eyes like crystal."
Matthew nodded. "Natalie’s got this pure vibe, super gentle and classy. I saw some nasty stuff about her before, and it was intense. Some folks even threatened me, saying if I kept her as the lead, I should kill off her character and bring in another female lead. I stood my ground. Looking back, I think it was the right call."
Natalie picked up Adrian's call. After some chit-chat, she leaned against the windowsill and pulled the curtains to keep the paparazzi away.
Adrian said, "Two months? That's forever. I'm gonna miss you, Natalie."
Hearing Adrian's voice, Natalie looked down. "I'll miss you, too."
These days in Vilniusky, even though she was busy with script readings, Natalie felt content.
Away from all the chaos, she felt at ease.
It was like a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
Adrian asked, "Are you out or at the hotel?"
Natalie replied, "Having dinner with the directors from the crew."
"Give me a kiss, and I'll let you go. I won't bug you anymore," Adrian said, "Have a nice evening."
Natalie looked around, making sure no one was on the small balcony, then leaned close to the phone and kissed it. "Okay, I'm hanging up."
"Natalie," Adrian suddenly said, "I've got a gift for you when you get back."
In two months, Adrian planned to sort everything out with Alice and was gearing up for a big wedding with Natalie.
Natalie lowered her eyes. "Okay." After hanging up, she felt no joy at his mention of a surprise. She was already numb.
