Chapter 719 Trying to Forget Her
Claire turned to Alice and asked, "Did Dynamic Entertainment switch up their president or something?"
Alice thought Claire was in the loop, but seeing her confused face, she realized Claire had no clue. Claire was always lost in her own world of gardening and piano, never giving a hoot about business stuff.
Alice replied, "Yeah, the old prez, Lucas, got busted for embezzlement. Herman, too. They both got the boot."
Even though Alice's agent, Karen, snagged the VP spot, she wasn't exactly showering Alice with primo gigs.
All the top-tier opportunities Alice craved were shot down by Karen.
Karen even told her that without any solid work under her belt, aiming for high-end gigs was a pipe dream and would just invite more haters.
Alice felt stuck and thought Karen being VP was a total waste, so she turned to Claire for help.
Just then, a servant popped in, "Mrs. Howard, Ms. Cullen, Mr. Adrian Howard and Mr. Daniel Howard are back."
Claire's face lit up, forgetting all about Alice's drama. "Daniel's here, too!"
Since his dad got sick and went abroad for treatment, Daniel had been there with his dad and just returned.
Claire ditched the piano and dragged Alice outside with her.
After being away for so long, Daniel looked like a whole new person. The carefree kid was gone, replaced by someone more mature and composed. Life had hit him hard with his dad's illness, the company's financial mess, and Melissa's burnout, which took her months to bounce back from.
The dining table was packed for tonight's family dinner, a rare sight.
Everyone was there except Donte.
Ruben sat at the head, with Melissa and Joe, Jamie and Adrian, and Rachel and Daniel facing each other.
During dinner, Melissa brought up setting Daniel up on a blind date and asked everyone who they thought would be a good match.
Daniel's handsome face stayed blank. He didn't say yes or no to Melissa's idea.
Claire chimed in, "Daniel's a catch. He needs a woman on his level. It's tough to find a woman who fits our family, but she should at least have good manners and high morals."
Melissa nodded. "Our family’s been through a lot lately, and Daniel's grown up. I just want him to settle down." She looked at Ruben. "Dad, what do you think?"
Ruben said, "Let Daniel decide."
Daniel gave a nonchalant smile. "I don't mind." He turned to Melissa, "Mom, you pick. I'm done eating, gonna take a walk." He got up and left.
Melissa smiled.
After dinner, Daniel was in the garden, smoking on a swing. Melissa walked over, and Daniel stood up, his voice a bit rough. "Mom."
Melissa spoke firmly, "Daniel, I know you don't want to get married, and I know you haven't forgotten Natalie. But you have to understand, you can never marry her. You need to try to forget her."
