Chapter 050 No Other Choice

"Avery is not here, what is there to fear?" the voice echoed in the room, filled with a sense of arrogance. "Her pride is soaring today. Her daughter is on the brink of becoming a part of the esteemed Howard family."

Avery, in her cunning manner, had managed to pull Natalie into a secluded corner, away from the prying eyes of the crowd. Before she could utter a word, Natalie's voice cut through the air, sharp and demanding. "Was it you who hid my mother away? Did you not promise that if I got rid of my child, you would secure a kidney donor for her?"

With an air of innocence that belied her actions, Avery responded, "That's right, I have found a kidney donor. Your mother will soon be undergoing her surgery. I had her transferred to a better hospital to ensure she receives the best care. Why such worry?"

Natalie's distrust for Avery was palpable as she demanded, "Where is my mother now?"

Avery, unfazed, produced her phone and presented Natalie with a video. The footage displayed Rosalie, Natalie's mother, lying in a hospital bed, tubes snaking around her. Despite her condition, she appeared to be faring well.

A sigh of relief escaped Natalie's lips, her eyes welling up with tears as she watched her mother on the small screen. Avery's voice broke the silence, "Natality, as long as you comply with my instructions, your mother will be well taken care of."

Her voice was calm, but the threat was clear.

Avery pocketed her phone, continuing her veiled threats. "If you choose not to cooperate, I cannot guarantee your mother's safety. It all hinges on your attitude."

"You're vile, no better than a common thief," Natalie spat out.

"Ah, but there is a difference," Avery countered. "I can arrange a kidney transplant for your mother." Her words left Natalie reeling.

Natalie took a shaky step back.

Closing the distance, Avery moved towards Natalie. "Natalie, I've watched you grow. I don't wish to be cruel. Your mother is fine, she's passed the evaluations. She'll undergo her kidney transplant next Wednesday. Just follow my instructions, and I'll arrange a meeting for you two."

Natalie's face turned ashen as she whispered, "You won't harm my mother, will you?"

Avery's footsteps echoed on the floor as she responded, "The kidney has already been procured from overseas. Natalie, you're intelligent. You know what I want. Stay away from Adrian, don't meddle in his affairs, and keep our secret. If you reveal anything, Rosalie will pay the price."

Turning around, Avery added, "And remember, Curtis is oblivious to all of this. Do you understand?"

The thought of Curtis discovering that Avery had imprisoned his dying former lover was enough to incite her wrath.

Natalie bit her lip, lost in thought.

She was left with no other choice.

Tears streamed down her face as she nodded in agreement.

"Good," Avery managed a forced smile. "This is no place for someone of your stature. Remove her."

Not far off, two burly bouncers, clad in black, heeded the command. They seized Natalie, frail and weakened, and unceremoniously tossed her out of the banquet hall's rear exit.

Outside, the rain was relentless, drenching Natalie as she lay on the wet ground, a picture of utter dejection. Having recently undergone an abortion and with Rosalie missing, she felt herself unraveling.

Inside the hall, a grand birthday celebration was in full swing. Outside, Natalie lay curled up in agony, the rain washing over her.

She slowly rose to her feet, staggering forward.

She seemed devoid of life.

Meanwhile, at the international airport's exit, Adrian slid into a car, and Brice sped off. "Mr. Howard, Ms. Cullen has already arrived at the banquet hall. The birthday party has started."
