Chapter 679 Unnecessary Action
Natalie strolled over to Oscar's monitor to check out her latest shoot. Oscar clapped his hands together. "Man, if it didn't take me forever to polish a film, I'd be begging you to star in my next one right now. Natalie, you're a natural. After we wrap up Rising Winds, I hope you keep your rep solid. Not saying you gotta stick to just movies... good TV scripts are cool, too, but you gotta protect your name. Rising Winds is gonna be a big deal for you. An actor's gotta build their own rep, and good scripts are rare."
Back at the hotel, Natalie hesitated for a sec but eventually had Heather turn down the offer for So Long.
Heather had heard Oscar's advice and took it to heart.
Heather voiced, "I think Oscar's spot on. An actor's gotta guard their rep and build credibility. So Long's a good show with decent pay and a solid plot, but it's not our top pick. I think we can pass on it for now. We've got a bunch of new movie scripts, lots of detective stuff, but Rising Winds is already a gem in that genre. Let's check out other types."
Natalie said, "Let's chat about it after we wrap up. I wanna head back to Vachilit and chill for a few days."
Heather nodded. "Cool."
Natalie added, "Heather, after we finish this movie, you should take a break, too. You've been busting your butt; take some time off and hang with your boyfriend."
Heather blushed. "I'm not dating him. I'm planning to go home and see my grandma."
Natalie knew Heather was tight with her grandma, who she worried about. Heather sent money home every month. Her grandma had surgery two years ago and had a weak heart. Natalie said, "You got enough cash? If not, I can spot you."
"I've got enough. Your pay is more than generous. My grandma's health should be okay. I talked to my family a few days ago, and they said she's in good spirits."
Natalie knew some of Heather's personal stuff. Heather had shared with her. Natalie persuaded, "After all, she's your mom. Don't hold a grudge."
Heather waved her hand. "I've made peace with it recently. If she treats my grandma well and takes care of her, I can send more money. She's my birth mom; she brought me into this world and raised me. I'm not angry anymore. I just feel this family isn't worth it."
Natalie didn't push further. She used to think all moms loved their daughters, but after hearing Heather's story and dealing with her own crazy stuff, Natalie realized there were too many selfish people in the world.
Who'd believe a mom would try to sell her own daughter for a few thousand bucks?
Heather was lucky to have run away overnight to the big city to work. She fought hard to get where she was now.
Rising Winds was set to wrap up at the end of the month.
Natalie and Samuel finished their last scene together, and the crew ordered a cake.
Natalie and Samuel took a photo together and posted it on Facebook.
Since Natalie had a private chat with Samuel, their relationship seemed to have changed but also stayed the same. Samuel treated Natalie just like always, a very natural friendship.
Natalie thought she might have made a fuss over nothing.
