Chapter 876 Feeling Threatened

"The Henderson family isn't exactly top-tier. We're all here just to be polite to Rebecca."

Kamille turned with grace. She was 30, with a stunning face and light blue eyes. She glanced at her assistant and asked, "What's going on?"

She'd overheard the chatter and needed her assistant to fill in the blanks.

"Ms. Cross, it seems Rebecca invited an actress from a regular family, and her mom used to be a maid. So, the socialites are a bit miffed."

Kamille was sitting with international socialites, their skin tones varied. Even the Vice President of Ristalia's daughter was there.

Kamille's blue eyes scanned the room.

Rebecca was holding a champagne glass, chatting with Fiora and Natalie.

Alice listened to the ongoing gossip and occasional complaints about Natalie around her. A socialite came over, handed her a glass of wine, and asked, "This Natalie, she's your maid's daughter, right?"

Alice, looking surprised, replied, "Yes, I didn't expect her to be here."

The socialite asked again, "What's up with Rebecca? Why did she invite her too?"

Diana chimed in, "Maybe she wasn't invited and just crashed the party."

The socialite laughed, "With her background, how could she have an invite? Maybe Rebecca mistook Natalie for you and went over to greet her."

Alice was taken aback. "That shouldn't be the case."

"Why not? How would Rebecca know Natalie?"

"Fiora, Natalie is our brand's spokesperson this year," Rebecca introduced. As part of the promotion, Natalie would be wearing U&M's Starlight series clothing and appearing on the cover of Fiora's GC magazine for the February issue.

Fiora shook hands with Natalie. "You look beautiful tonight."

Natalie smiled politely. "Thank you."

"Your eye makeup is fantastic," Fiora said sincerely.

Rebecca led Natalie forward. "Your seat is next to mine. I'm looking forward to our collaboration."

Natalie nodded. "I hope we can work well together."

As Natalie walked forward, she felt a gaze on her from the moment she entered the banquet hall. There were many eyes on her, but this one felt different. When she sat down, she scanned the room and finally locked eyes with Wendy.

The two stared at each other.

Natalie didn't look away. Instead, she smiled politely.

Wendy also smiled but without much warmth.

In Wendy's mind, she pictured Natalie sitting with Rebecca. 'So, Rebecca's new spokesperson is Natalie. I've been in the entertainment industry for years, gone through all those hardships, failed in dramas, failed in movies, and been replaced in roles. I don't rely on my family but have worked my way up to win the Best Actress award. But for the first time, I feel threatened by a young woman, not just because of this endorsement.'
