Chapter 425 Against the Current
Rosalie said, "No wonder you've been getting home early lately. You didn't even tell me you switched jobs. Working those night shifts at the Imperial Nightclub was killing you. It's awesome you're acting now. Just keep at it, don't rush. You're gorgeous, and if you hustle, you'll definitely make it big."
Natalie hooked her arm around Rosalie's and leaned her head on her shoulder. "Mom, once I start making money from acting, I'll get us a bigger place. We'll have regular check-ups, and I'll get you the best meds. You'll be healthy, and I want you to always be with me."
Rosalie chuckled, "Natalie, I don't want to always be with you. I need some peace and quiet too."
Esme's filming style was super artsy, with stunning visuals that actually meant something.
She had a killer sense of pacing in her storytelling.
Her youth films always raked in at least seven to eight hundred million dollars.
No wonder Adrian asked her why she didn't take the lead role instead of a supporting role in this film.
A bossy guy like Adrian would definitely be pissed with her turning down his plan.
Natalie was really into Esme's art films. Last year, she even went to see her film "Against the Current" with Bella.
Esme was especially good at using colors.
The visual effects were top-notch, and the aesthetics were high-end.
Rosalie went to the bathroom. Her phone, left on the couch, started ringing. The screen lit up.
Natalie glanced at the screen and saw that Rosalie was browsing today's news. It was about Alice.
Natalie's eyes darkened. Sometimes she really didn't get why Rosalie cared so much about Alice.
When they were kids, Rosalie was always good to Alice.
When Avery scolded Alice, Rosalie would secretly hold her and give her her favorite chocolate, like Alice was her own daughter.
This wasn't the first time Natalie had thought this.
The first time she had this thought, it freaked her out, but now...
Rosalie came back and sat next to Natalie.
Natalie lowered her eyes and softly said, "Alice has woken up."
Rosalie's eyes lit up with joy. "Really?"
Natalie nodded. "Yeah."
Rosalie sighed in relief. "That's good. I knew she'd be okay."
At the hospital.
Alice had taken painkillers, but the pain from her fracture hadn't let up.
These past few days, she had been super irritable. Even though Claire had visited her a few times and clearly said they'd have the wedding once she recovered, Adrian hadn't come at all.
Avery blamed her for being too impatient. But how could Alice be patient?
This fracture wouldn't heal in less than a hundred days.
But this time, she had lost the baby, and the Howard family had agreed to marry her, so her goal was achieved.
Today, Avery had gone home, and the nanny and caregiver were resting in the small room next door.
She was staying in a high-end VIP ward with a private kitchen and a small bedroom for the caregiver.
Alice called out, "Renee, get me a glass of water."
Renee came out, holding a glass of water, and handed it to Alice. "Ms. Cullen, does it still hurt?"
Alice took a couple of sips. "Of course it hurts."
Renee said, "Ms. Cullen, please bear with it a little longer. The doctor said you can't take too many painkillers. It will stop hurting in a couple of days."
Alice took out her phone. "Alright, I know. Stop nagging and go rest."
"Okay, call me if you need anything." Renee tucked Alice in and limped back to the small bedroom.
Her foot had never healed since she fell down the stairs. It was all Natalie's fault!
