Chapter 187 A Sense of Unease
Daniel handed another piece of rib to Natalie, but she replied, "I can do it myself."
" What do you like to eat? Just tell me," Daniel asked as he continued to bring more food for Natalie until her plate was piled high.
Natalie frowned and whispered, "Daniel."
Daniel insisted, "We're classmates, after all. It's only right that we help each other out." He said, raising one eyebrow.
Natalie didn’t really know what say so she just bowed her head and kept eating. When she looked up, she met Adrian's gaze.
She dazed for a second and then looked away.
"Dad, try this. Alice made tiramisu." Claire said as she walked out of the kitchen, carrying a plate of tiramisu and handing it to Ruben.
Alice froze. 'Tiramisu??' But she didn’t know how to make it. She glanced at Natalie from the corner of her eye. 'Did Natalie make it??' Alice clenched her fingers.
Ruben took a bite. "Hmm, not bad. Alice, I didn't know you could make tiramisu."
Alice smiled nervously. "I, I just learned it recently. If you like it, I can make it for you more often."
"Thank you, it's very delicious." Ruben said, seeming to have a particularly good appetite as he took several more bites of the tiramisu.
Alice sighed in relief, thinking the conversation was over.
Rachel was not happy about Ruben’s praise for Alice. She looked at Alice and said, "It's just tiramisu, Grandpa. If you like it, I can make it for you, too."
Ruben, who always doted on Rachel, smiled and said, "Alright, alright."
Rachel then smiled smugly, believing that Ruben still favored her. She watched as Jamie took a piece of tiramisu and put it in his mouth. He then took another piece. Rachel asked, "Jamie, do you like this, too?"
Jamie replied, "It's alright."
Rachel bit her lip and looked at Alice, asking, "Hey, how do you make this?"
Alice was stunned.
How to made it??
She started to panic.
How would she know how to made it!!
She quickly glanced at Natalie, who was eating quietly. When Natalie looked up, she gazed innocently at Alice, as if she had no idea what was going on. Alice felt both nervous and anxious and said, "Rachel, if you like it, I can make it for you."
"Who cares about your cooking? If you don't want to tell me, just say so. Stingy!"
Rachel, spoiled and used to always getting her way, was known for her bad temper. Everyone was used to it. And since it wasn't a big deal, Claire smiled and said, "Alice, just tell Rachel how to make it."
"I..." Alice was flustered, cold sweat forming on her back. "Rachel, I'll tell you after dinner."
"What’s with all the secrecy? You just don't want to teach me." Rachel said, despising Alice's pretentiousness. She couldn't understand why Adrian liked her.
"Rachel, you've misunderstood." Alice said, looking at Rachel. She wished she could slap her but knowing she had to stay on her good side. so she immediately put on a smile.
At that moment, a gentle and soft female voice spoke up. "Ms. Howard, if you like it, I can teach you if you don’t mind." Rachel looked at Natalie. "You know how?"
Natalie smiled and said, "A little." She glanced at Alice and continued calmly, "Ms. Cullen taught me."
Alice finally felt a sense of relief, yet her smile still stiff.
"Yes."
Rachel said cheerfully, "Alright, fine, you can teach me after dinner."
She then snorted at Alice and thought, 'If you don't want to teach me, then don't. It's just tiramisu. What's there to be so proud of?'
