Chapter 1399 Award Ceremony
Heather adjusted Natalie's dress as they walked forward.
They checked in at the registration desk.
Then they arrived at the awards hall.
Natalie's seat was in the third row.
Unfortunately, the seat next to hers belonged to Wendy.
They walked over and sat down.
Natalie exchanged a glance with Wendy.
Both wore thin, surface-level smiles.
Wendy's film, "Yesterday," was also nominated for Best Actress.
The other three nominees included veteran actress Juliana Knight.
Juliana had won many awards before but was now older, and her recent works weren't as impressive.
She had been nominated several times over the past few years but hadn't won, just going through the motions.
There was also newcomer Mariana Sullivan, a popular idol who starred in a lesbian-themed indie film with great reviews, marking her transition to serious acting.
Another strong contender was Gabriela Powell, who had beaten Wendy last year to win the Starlight Performance Arts Award for Best Actress.
So, realistically, the competition for Best Actress was between three women.
Natalie, Gabriela, and Wendy.
At 7 PM, the movie awards ceremony began.
The event was live-streamed, drawing a lot of attention online.
The camera panned to Natalie and Wendy.
Immediately, the internet buzzed with excitement.
The trending topic shot to number one.

"Wow, what a surprise!"
"The organizers definitely did this on purpose. Everyone knows Wendy and Natalie don't get along, yet they seated them together!"
"Natalie looks stunning. So youthful and elegant."
"Why does Wendy's expression look so weird? Is she too nervous? Natalie looks much more relaxed."
"LOL, did Wendy just get Botox or something? Her face looks so stiff."
Many of Wendy's fans wanted to defend her, but the stiffness in her face was undeniable.
Wendy was indeed seven or eight years older than Natalie, but on camera, she looked a full decade older.
Her face had a noticeably puffy look.
Many awards were announced during the ceremony.
"Rising Winds" was nominated for Best Picture, and Oscar was nominated for Best Director.
Natalie was up for Best Actress, and Samuel was nominated for Best Actor. Even if they didn't win, the "Rising Winds" team was already the night's biggest winner.
The Best Screenplay award was about to be announced, followed by Best Actress.
During the intermission, a singer took the stage to perform.
Natalie nervously clasped her hands.
Beside her, Wendy smiled slightly, her eyes on the stage but her words directed at Natalie. "Natalie, who do you think will win this time?"
Natalie smiled faintly. "Guessing is pointless. Let's leave it to the judges and the audience."
"Natalie, I've won this kind of award many times." But this time, Wendy was the most nervous. She realized she couldn't even muster a smile. She desperately wanted this award. She had tried to leverage connections to secure it but had hit a wall. Wendy was scared, scared of being overshadowed by Natalie.
Scared of losing to Natalie.
"Really? Then you wouldn't consider this award already yours, would you?" Natalie's voice was cool and slightly hoarse. "Sometimes, being too confident can lead to unexpected outcomes. I respect this award, and I care about it. But if it's not mine, I'll keep working hard and aim for the next one. If I don't win this time, I won't act like a sore loser."
When she mentioned "sore loser," she turned her head, smiling politely at Wendy. "Don't you think I'm right?"
