Chapter 292 She Seems to Have Made a Mistake
Natalie hung out at Bayview Villa until the afternoon. After making dinner for Adrian, she finally left. Lucky, the dog, wouldn't let her go, tugging at her pant leg. Natalie had to promise to visit in a few days to get away.
Before leaving, she grabbed a bag to collect the fur she brushed off Lucky earlier, planning to make a furball.
Adrian watched her leave from the terrace.
Bayview Villa was halfway up a hill, in a scenic spot. After a ten-minute walk downhill, Natalie reached the main road and caught a cab.
When she got home, Rosalie wasn't there. Natalie took a shower and changed out of Adrian's sportswear. She packed the clothes in a bag, thinking she might return them, though Adrian probably wouldn't want them back.
She was grateful he saved her.
After drying her hair halfway, Natalie called Rosalie. "Mom, where are you?"
Rosalie replied, "At the farmers' market, buying groceries."
Natalie said, "There's a supermarket downstairs. Why not shop there?"
Rosalie said, "Supermarket stuff is expensive and not fresh."
At 7 PM, Bella showed up with a cake. "Natalie, where's your mom?"
Natalie let her in. "In the kitchen."
"Aunt Rosalie, I've been busy with exams and couldn't visit." Bella hugged Rosalie in the kitchen.
"Oh, Bella, go sit down. I'll make something delicious. It'll be ready soon." Rosalie took the cake. "You didn't have to buy this."
Bella said, "Just a little celebration for you!"
Rosalie smiled. "It's smoky here. Go hang out with Natalie in the living room."
In the living room, Bella handed Natalie a jewelry box. "Do you like it?"
Natalie was peeling an apple for Bella. She glanced at the box and told Bella to put it down first. She finished peeling, cut the apple into pieces, and placed them on a plate.
Bella opened the box herself. Inside was a top-quality amethyst pendant with a black woven cord, decorated with jade pieces.
Bella asked, "Do you like it?"
Natalie glanced at it. "This is fancy! Is this like, a new product drop or something??"
She fed Bella a piece of apple.
Bella chewed, eyes wide. "This is what I gave you for your last birthday! You said you lost it when you moved. I made you another one."
Natalie was surprised. "This is from my last birthday?"
She wiped her fingers and took the pendant, feeling mixed emotions. "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure. The material isn't as good as last time, but it's still nice. I even redesigned it." Bella put the pendant around Natalie's neck. "Beautiful!"
Natalie touched the pendant, deep in thought.
Seeing Natalie wasn't as happy as expected, Bella asked, "What's wrong? Did something happen?"
Natalie looked troubled. "I think I made a mistake."
Bella asked, "What mistake?"
Natalie went to her bedroom, searched her jewelry box, bags, and drawers, but couldn't find the diamond pendant anywhere.
