Chapter 993 You Are the Only One
'This is so crazy, it feels like a bad dream. How could this even be real? But Natalie swears it's true. The woman I was with that night was Natalie. Her first time was with me,' Adrian thought.
Suddenly, Adrian remembered all the cruel things he had said to Natalie, feeling a rush of guilt. He grabbed her hand tightly. "Why are you just telling me this now?"
Thinking back, Adrian realized how many times he had hurt Natalie, even insulted her. He couldn't believe he had done such awful things.
Natalie looked so much like Alice. He used to think she was trying to look like Alice to get his attention. That faint cherry blossom scent that night—it really belonged to Natalie.
"Natalie, why didn't you tell me sooner?" Adrian let go of her hand and grabbed her shoulders.
Natalie spoke softly, "I was scared. Avery and Alice had Rosalie locked up. I was worried about my mom and kept getting threatened."
"Threatened?" Adrian said quietly. Suddenly, something clicked. "At the engagement party, was it you or..."
"It was me," Natalie nodded, gathering her courage to look at him.
Adrian's emotions were all over the place, his eyes a mix of shock, joy, and excitement.
Natalie couldn't quite read him, but she saw the whirlwind of emotions in his eyes.
"Adrian, I'm sorry. I didn't want to lie to you." A tear rolled down Natalie's cheek. "I never planned to say anything. I didn't know how. It sounds so ridiculous. I took Alice's place and met you several times. On the day of the engagement party, Alice had an allergic reaction and couldn't go. Avery asked me to stand in for her. That day, I was nervous and excited. I liked you. Being engaged to you was something I never even dreamed of, even if it was in Alice's name. Adrian, that was the happiest day of my life, even though the bride wasn't really me. But at that moment, it was me standing by your side."
More tears streamed down Natalie's cheeks. She let go of his hand, holding their marriage certificate in her palm.
She touched her neck and took off the ring.
At 10 AM, the sunlight hit the diamond just right, making it sparkle brilliantly.
"If you regret it, you can take it back." Her lips trembled, barely able to speak through her sobs.
The gnawing efforts of keeping all these secrets had effectively enhanced the ecstasy coming after an outburst of the truth at this moment.
Suddenly, Adrian's kisses rained down on her.
Before Natalie knew what was happening, Adrian was holding her tightly, like he wanted to fuse her into his very being.
Adrian pressed Natalie against the car, biting her lip hard. He lifted his head, his eyes red, his voice shaking, "Natalie, don't leave me!"
Natalie was stunned. "Adrian."
"Natalie, I don't care if you lied to me. I only hate that Alice's plan was so perfect. You looked too much like her, and I didn't realize it. If I had known it was you back then, we would have been together long ago. I love you, Natalie. You're the only one for me!" Adrian cooed.
