Chapter 982 Refusing Haven
Adrian's eyes lit up with surprise and joy when he saw Natalie. He got up and took a few steps toward her. "So, you're Ms. Teeger? You came back without a heads-up. I thought this Ms. Teeger was some big shot here to talk about a huge project."
Adrian took Natalie's hand, their fingers intertwining.
"Yep, I'm here to talk business. It's a big deal, but it's up to you if you want in," Natalie said jauntily.
"Alright, let's hear it."
Natalie pulled a coin from her pocket and handed it to Adrian. "I wonder if Mr. Howard is free this afternoon. I'd like to book your whole afternoon."
Adrian looked at the coin in his hand and grinned. "Let me think about it."
"Think about it? Nah, forget it. I don't want to collaborate anymore. I'm out," Natalie said, turning her heels to walk away.
Adrian grabbed her waist and kissed her deeply, making her knees weak.
His voice was low and husky, "My afternoon is all yours. My evening too."
"Evening? It's Curtis's birthday today. I need to be there tonight. I'll be back around ten."
Adrian said, "I'll pick you up."
"Derek's picking me up," Natalie replied. Then she whiled away the entire afternoon in Adrian's office.
It wasn't her first time there, but the employees didn't recognize her, especially since Adrian was known for being distant with women.
Many socialites tried to get close to him, but he turned them all down and even told the receptionist not to let any of them in.
A few days ago, Haven came by and got turned away, but Natalie made it to the office this time.
Soon, the employees started gossiping.
"I just saw a super stylish woman, all decked out in designer brands, being led to Mr. Howard's office by Mr. Collins. Who is she?"
"I saw her too! Even with a mask and sunglasses, she must be gorgeous. Mr. Collins took her to the CEO's office, and she hasn't come out for an hour."
"A few days ago, Ms. Bishop and Ms. Clark were both turned away."
"I heard from the receptionist in the restroom that she's Ms. Teeger, here to talk business with Mr. Howard."
"Ms. Teeger? Never heard of her in Vachilit."
"I just passed by reception and saw Ms. Clark arrive."
"Come on, Ms. Clark's been turned away several times. Why would she come again?"
"Mr. Howard is just that charming."
"The Clark family is pretty well-off, and Mr. Howard still isn't interested. I think Ms. Clark is very pretty and she's a cellist, very artistic."
"That's Mr. Howard's business, not ours to gossip about."
"The manager's here."
Meanwhile, Haven was sitting in the lounge when a staff member knocked and brought in some desserts. "Ms. Clark, Mr. Howard is currently with an important guest and can't see you. Maybe you could come another day."
Ever since Adrian broke off his engagement with Alice, Haven had been coming over frequently, but she rarely saw Adrian. Each time, Adrian had the staff dismiss her with a few words. She thought her chance had come, but he still wouldn't see her.
Thinking this, Haven felt a bit down.
