Chapter 1098 Mentioned in the Same Breath
"Mr. Reynolds, I'm heading to my break room now," Delilah said.
"See you tonight," Nicholas replied, settling into the boss's chair and crossing his legs.
Once Delilah was gone, Nicholas's smile vanished. He picked up the phone and called his assistant in.
The assistant, a young woman who had stayed on at Star Entertainment after her college internship, walked in with her head down.
Nicholas's intense presence made her a bit nervous. "Mr. Reynolds?"
"Why did Delilah come into my office without my permission?" Nicholas asked.
The assistant was taken aback. "Ms. Roberts came in on her own. She's a popular actress here, and there are rumors she's your girlfriend. I couldn't stop her."
"If you can't stop her, then you don't need to work here anymore," Nicholas said coldly.
The assistant panicked. "Mr. Reynolds, I didn't mean to. Please give me another chance."
Everything Nicholas once controlled at Star Entertainment had been taken over by Cassidy. The senior executives were replaced by Cassidy's people.
Even his secretaries and assistants were all new interns or newcomers who knew nothing, none of whom were trained by Nicholas. Cassidy hadn't initially targeted Star Entertainment, but now, she intended to leave nothing for him. She wanted to disempower Nichola even he was now just a VP at a subsidiary.
Nicholas closed his eyes. "This is your last chance. If you let anyone into my office without my permission again, you're out."
The assistant walked out, trembling. She patted her chest and took a deep breath, thinking, 'Didn't they say Nicholas, the vice president of Star Entertainment, has no real power? His temper is really bad.'
Nicholas looked at his phone, which showed two missed calls, one from Kade and the other from Liliana.
'Kade and Liliana called me. Could something have happened to Bella?' Nicholas thought. He stood up, grabbed the coat draped over the couch, and drove away from the Star Entertainment Building.
As soon as he left, someone reported to the current president of Star Entertainment, Ronnie Ford, who was brought in by Cassidy and originally placed in the Reynolds Group.
Cassidy, determined to keep Nicholas under her thumb, installed Ronnie as president of Star Entertainment. His mission: to watch Nicholas's every move.
Ronnie nodded. "Where did he go?"
"We lost him. He seemed to realize our people were following him. He's a very skilled driver. The people I sent weren't a match for him. But after he left, Delilah from the Roberts family went to his office."
Ronnie snorted. "Trying to rely on the heiress of the Roberts family to secure his position. Nicholas is useless, having to depend on a woman."
The secretary beside him chimed in, "He can't compare to Mr. Ford. No, he can't even be mentioned in the same breath as Mr. Ford."
"Relying on a woman to secure a mere vice president position, Nicholas is just as incompetent as I thought. He couldn't even last a few minutes in the meeting. Mrs. Reynolds placing me here is really unnecessary." Ronnie being placed here was also a way to distance him from getting real power. He could have networked more if he had stayed in the Reynolds Group.
