Chapter 1017 Feelings That Will Lead Nowhere
Melissa had teamed up with Cassidy a few times and knew exactly what kind of person she was. She also knew Cassidy was eyeing a marriage alliance and had Rachel in mind.
"Today's all about you, Cassidy! Let's just enjoy your birthday. We can talk about the alliance later. We should probably get the younger generation's input too," Melissa said.
Cassidy chuckled, "You're right. I was jumping the gun."
Melissa continued, "There's a lot happening with the Howard family right now. After Adrian's wedding, if you're still interested in the alliance, we can have your son spend some time with Rachel. If they hit it off, great."
Melissa didn't turn down the idea because she thought the Reynolds family was pretty respectable, and she knew Rachel had been secretly in love with Jamie for years. But Rachel and Jamie just weren't meant to be.
"Adrian's wedding?" Cassidy asked, puzzled.
'Didn't he break off his engagement with Alice from the Cullen family?' Cassidy thought.
"Yeah, you'll find out soon enough. You'll definitely get an invite. He and his beloved have already registered their marriage but haven't had the wedding yet. It's coming up soon," Melissa explained.
Cassidy was a bit taken aback, "That's great news. Congrats."
But she was also curious about who Adrian's wife was.
A bunch of people came over to congratulate Cassidy.
A wealthy lady said, "Cassidy, it must've been tough to rent this place. My daughter's birthday is next month, and I wanted to throw a party here, but I got turned down. Can you introduce me to the owner?"
Everyone wanted to rent Blue Moon Lake to show off with birthday parties or events. But Blue Moon Lake had only hosted two events this year.
One was Rebecca's debutante ball.
The other was Cassidy's birthday bash.
Cassidy felt pretty proud, "I just asked once, and they agreed. They lent me the third hall. Quite a surprise indeed."
"Cassidy's the CEO of the Reynolds Group now, so of course, they have to show her respect. Don't be so modest, Cassidy."
"And we heard the owner of Blue Moon Lake is coming to your birthday party tonight. That's a big deal."
Cassidy smiled, "They are just doing me a favor."
"I wonder who the owner is. I heard it's a guy? Seems pretty mysterious."
"I just know he's someone important."
Just then, the banquet hall doors opened.
'The party's already started. All the socialites and wealthy ladies are here. Who's showing up now?' Cassidy thought, frowning. 'It's pretty rude to be late to my birthday party.'
Cassidy looked up to see Natalie, dressed in a champagne-colored women's suit, walking in with Heather beside her.
Natalie wasn't wearing a gown; her simple, intellectual outfit made her look even more elegant. Heather was in a light blue suit.
As they walked in, almost everyone turned to look at them.
"Who's that? She's gorgeous. I don't recognize her."
"She looks like a celebrity. My sister's a fan, but I don't follow celebs, so I can't place her."
"That's Natalie!"
