Chapter 556 He Doesn't Trust Her

Adrian hit up Natalie, who was already out cold.

Natalie groggily cracked her eyes open, fumbling around for her phone. When she saw Adrian's name pop up, she froze. She sat up, staring at the screen as it kept buzzing. After a few seconds, she swiped to answer.

Her voice was all raspy. "Hello?"

Adrian's voice came through. "I'll get Dynamic Entertainment Media to handle the online mess. Don't sweat it. Your future gigs won't take a hit."

Natalie gave a bitter smile. Was this why Adrian was calling her at this ungodly hour?

She didn't know what to say. Did Adrian think the chick in the photos was her?

Adrian stayed quiet on the other end.

Natalie couldn't figure out what was going through his head. She clenched her fingers and took a deep breath.

They could hear each other's breathing.

But neither of them hung up.

Natalie glanced at the time. It was stupid early. She said, "Adrian, is this why you called me?"

Adrian replied, "It's late. I won't mess with your sleep."

He was about to hang up when Natalie stopped him.

"Adrian," she called his name, sounding all helpless and confused, "Do you really think the girl in the photos is me?"

Adrian sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, his knuckles tightening. He didn't answer right away. His eyes darkened. He'd seen those photos a year ago and was super pissed at her lie that she was a virgin when they hooked up..

Adrian hated chicks who had messy private lives and were all about vanity.

But right then, Adrian said, "Whether it is or isn't doesn't change anything for me. Natalie, no matter what, I won't let you go."

Adrian liked Natalie. The past should stay buried.

He didn't want those old photos to mess with his trust in her.

But he had ordered those photos to be destroyed back then. How the hell did they pop up again?

Someone was definitely stirring the pot.

"It's not!" Natalie said firmly, "Adrian, the girl in the photos isn't me! It's Alice!"

Adrian was stunned, his pupils shrinking.

He shot up in the air, gripping the railing with one hand. He looked out at the bustling, mysterious night through the floor-to-ceiling window.

His fingers tightened around the metal railing.

It was like a lightbulb went off in his head.

Adrian asked, "What did you say?"

The girl in the photos was Alice? No way.

Natalie said firmly, "It's Alice. I'm telling the truth. I know you don't believe me, and I don't want to say much more. I have proof. But are you willing to look at it? Adrian, ask yourself, do you want to believe the girl in the photos is me or Alice?"

Adrian was quiet for a moment before saying, "Natalie, you're tired. Get some rest."

Then he hung up.

Natalie hugged herself, hiding in the corner, crying silently.

A tear trickled down her cheek.

She smiled bitterly.

She knew Adrian wouldn't believe her.

He wouldn't believe the girl in the photos was Alice.

No one would believe a lowly maid.

Adrian was just into her body, while Alice was his fiancée. No matter how bad she was, he had to protect her because it was the Howard family's reputation on the line. If word got out that he was engaged to a girl with a messy private life, it would tank the Howard Group's stock and their reputation.

So, even if Natalie said the girl was Alice, Adrian wouldn't buy it.
