Chapter 624 The Defendant
After posting, Alice scrolled through the comments under her Facebook post.
[Man, I totally misjudged Alice. She was so chill.]
[Yeah, she's super nice.]
[Alice might be a spoiled rich girl, but she's got a good heart and a pretty face.]
Alice grinned at the comments. Just as she was about to hit the like button, she remembered to switch accounts. She quickly swapped to her alt account and liked the comments.
Right after that, her phone buzzed.
"Diana, what's up? We can chat on Facebook. Wanna go shopping? Let's hit the stores later." Alice was in a great mood.
On the other end, Diana sounded hesitant. "Alright, let's talk in person."
Alice slapped on some makeup, changed her clothes, and grabbed her Chanel WOC from her walk-in closet. She twirled in front of the mirror, feeling pretty pleased with herself.
Heading downstairs, Alice spotted Renee and walked over. "Where's my mom?"
Renee glanced at Alice's outfit, knowing she was heading out. "Mrs. Cullen just calmed down and is in the study."
Alice said, "I'm going shopping with Diana. Oh, and can you whip up some nutritious soup for me? I need it when I get back this afternoon."
Renee didn't dare question her. "Sure, I'll get someone on it right away."
Diana called out, "Alice, you're finally here. You gotta help me."
As soon as she saw Diana, Alice noticed her worried expression. "What's with the long face?"
Diana had a problem. She'd used an alt Facebook account to post some photos, claiming they were of Natalie. Now, Natalie's team was suing her. "Natalie has sued my alt account, and I've got a lawsuit notice."
"Let them sue. Didn't you buy that account? It doesn't have your real name," Alice said, unfazed.
Diana's anxiety was a stark contrast to Alice's indifference. Diana gritted her teeth. "It doesn't have my real info, but somehow they found out. I heard it's easy to trace the IP address. Even if it's fake, they can still crack it. Anyway, they've sent me a cease and desist letter demanding $500,000 in compensation."
Although $500,000 wasn't a lot for these rich girls, coughing it up all at once wasn't easy. Diana wasn't very favored in the Everly Family, and her allowance was already low. She couldn't conjure $500,000 out of thin air.
Diana started to panic. "Alice, I did this for you."
Alice said, "Chill out. I've given you so many designer bags and clothes. Just sell a few, and you'll have enough."
It wasn't easy for Alice, either. Asking Avery for money would definitely result in a scolding, and asking Curtis would be even more of a hassle since he was already biased towards Natalie.
Alice's designer bags and jewelry were gifts from socialites trying to curry favor with her. It was easy to take out the bags and jewelry, but $500,000 in cash was tough.
Diana couldn't bear to sell her bags. She only had a few valuable ones and needed them to maintain her image.
Diana panicked. "Alice, you have to help me out."
