Chapter 213 Adrian Must Be Blind
A few women chatted for a while.
Most of the conversation was about bags, jewelry, and occasionally Adrian.
"I really envy Alice. She went from a small family, but became the fiancée of the illustrious Mr. Howard."
"This is Mr. Howard we're talking about. Who in Vachilit doesn't know him?"
"I wonder what kind of luck Alice stumbled upon."
"I heard she saved Mr. Howard; that's how they got together."
"Why don't I have such good luck?"
"Every woman in Vachilit wants to marry Mr. Howard."
A soft female voice scoffed, and the women turned their heads to look at Natalie, who was leaning against the railing. Natalie slowly raised her eyes, holding onto the railing, her voice hoarse. "Adrian must be blind."
She thought, 'If that's not that case, then his heart must be.'
"Hey, what are you saying?"
"Yeah, why are you insulting people out of nowhere?"
"This woman is probably drunk. Let's go, no point in talking here."
Saying that, they linked arms and walked away.
Natalie held onto the railing, alone on the vast deck.
She spread her arms as the sea breeze blew.
It seemed that only at this moment, in these few quiet seconds, could she feel free, could she take a breath. Her thoughts were half muddled, half clear. She thought, 'I don't understand. Am I really drunk? If I am, why haven't I fallen asleep yet? Why do I still feel so clear-headed and have to endure this pain? If I'm not drunk, why do I taste alcohol in my mouth, feel it sloshing in my stomach, and why do I occasionally feel dizzy?'
"Blind?" Accompanied by footsteps, a deep male voice sounded, "Natalie, didn't your teachers tell you not to speak ill of others behind their backs?"
Natalie slowly turned around, her back against the railing, looking at Adrian as he approached.
She squinted, as if she couldn't see clearly, and brushed her wind-tousled hair from her forehead. Watching the tall Adrian walk up to her, she hiccuped. "Oh, I never learned that. You all said I never go to school, just going out looking for men to fool around with. How could I attend classes?"
Adrian frowned. "Natalie!"
Adrian took a few steps closer, looking at her drunken state. "Tell me, this isn't true."
He would rather believe that people were deliberately slandering her.
"What? What's true or false?" Natalie blinked, looking at Adrian in front of her. "What are you talking about?"
She pushed Adrian's chest but couldn't move him. Leaning against the railing, she laughed with a breath of alcohol. "Are you asking if I've had an abortion?" She leaned in, looking at Adrian with her clear eyes while Adrian's eyes were unreadable.
She was very close to him.
Her delicate nose pressed against Adrian's.
Adrian looked at Natalie in her drunken state, feeling a wave of alcohol hit him.
"Yes, I did. The baby was over a month. Suddenly found out, I had to get rid of it," she spoke, "I didn't want to give birth to it, either."
"Enough!" Adrian couldn't listen anymore!
He thought, 'It's true! Natalie has really been pregnant with another man's child. She has really been entangled with several men. It was all true!'
"Do you also think I'm disgusting?" Natalie lowered her eyes, tugging at Adrian's sleeve. "Adrian, do you think so too?"
Adrian gritted his teeth, looking at Natalie's innocent face and thinking, 'It turns out that someone can have such an innocent face and still do such disgusting things.'
Adrian said, "I do."
