Chapter 90 The Dinner Party

Natalie found herself dwelling on the memory of the standard equipment in Rosalie's hospital room, not the temporary setup she had been placed in. She had scoured several renowned hospitals in Vachilit, but none of them matched the decor she remembered. Yet, Vachilit was a city teeming with numerous small hospitals, making the search area vast and overwhelming.

"There are only a handful of small clinics in this vicinity," she mused. "For any serious medical attention, one would need to venture to the city center. The nearest hospital is Westley Hospital, a psychiatric facility."

The mention of a psychiatric hospital caused Natalie's face to blanch slightly. Bella, noticing her discomfort, quickly reassured her, "Don't worry, it's just a possibility. We should continue our search."

"Alright," Natalie agreed. She had the privilege of visiting Rosalie once a week. If Rosalie was indeed in Westley Hospital, she would discover the truth on her next visit.

After parting ways with Bella, Natalie returned home earlier than usual. However, while tidying up her home, she realized that the diamond pendant Bella had gifted her was nowhere to be found.

"How peculiar. I always keep it safely tucked away in my bag," she murmured to herself, her brows furrowing in confusion. Despite a thorough search of her bedroom, the diamond pendant remained elusive.

Just as she was about to give up, her phone rang, breaking the silence. It was Jagger. "Natalie, would you be available tomorrow evening? I could use your help," he asked.

"What do you need, Dr. Kamel?" she asked, curiosity piqued.

"There's an important dinner party tomorrow night, and I was hoping you could accompany me," Jagger said.
"Umm..."

"Please. My parents had something come up suddenly, and I can't find a companion at the last minute. Just come with me as a formality."

Caught off guard, Natalie hesitated for a moment before agreeing. After all, Jagger had been a great help to her on multiple occasions, and she felt a deep sense of gratitude towards him. "Alright," she conceded, "I'll accompany you."

After ending the call, Natalie found herself standing in front of her closet, her mind filled with uncertainty. Her wardrobe was filled with simple, casual attire, hardly suitable for a formal dinner party. After a moment of contemplation, she decided on a red V-neck dress, a piece Rosalie had sewn for her. She had only worn it once before, for a school event.

The following evening, precisely at 7 o'clock, Natalie arrived at the seven-star Pearl Hotel, owned by the Howard Group. The grandeur of Ruben's birthday celebration was evident, with luxury cars parked haphazardly at the entrance and elegantly dressed men and women making their way inside.

The birthday banquet was organized by Melissa, the eldest daughter of the Howard family, and Rayson, the eldest son. Despite marrying into the Murphy family, Melissa had maintained close ties with the Howards. Among all the women in the family, she bore the closest resemblance to Ruben.

As soon as Adrian and Alice entered the banquet hall, they were immediately surrounded by guests. Alice, donned in a light pink fringe dress and delicate makeup, looked every bit the well-behaved lady as she followed Adrian.

Upon approaching Ruben, she presented him with a carefully chosen gift - a painting that Curtis had procured at a high price. "Wishing you a blessed and blissful birthday," Alice said, her voice warm and sincere.

"Thank you," Ruben responded, nodding in appreciation before directing someone to take the painting.

From a distance, Haven watched Adrian with a longing gaze, unable to tear her eyes away from him since his arrival. Megan, standing beside her, couldn't help but comment, "Haven, stop staring. Adrian won't notice you even if you keep staring."

Haven bit her lip, her gaze shifting to the woman beside Adrian. "Is that Alice?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

"Yes, and I heard she's pregnant," Megan confirmed.

"Pregnant!" The word echoed in Haven‘s mind, causing her heart to skip a beat and a wave of disappointment to wash over her. Alice was already Adrian's fiancée, and now with her pregnancy, her position in the Howard family was more secure than ever.

"Haven, you missed such a good opportunity last time. Otherwise, you would be the one standing beside Mr. Howard now!" Megan's tone was tinged with regret.

"What are you talking about?" Haven asked, genuinely confused.

Megan sneered, assuming Haven was feigning ignorance, and replied, "Never mind." But Haven's mind was already preoccupied with thoughts of Alice's pregnancy, completely disregarding Megan's cryptic words.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of the banquet hall…
