Chapter 110 Undeserving of Dignity

Natalie had been a part of the Imperial Nightclub's workforce for nearly a month, yet she was still not entirely familiar with the managerial hierarchy. She was aware that Melody and Emma Kroger held managerial positions, each presiding over different floors, supervising the food and drink services, and leading their respective teams of waitstaff.

Above them was Jason Teeger.

Jason was like the executive manager here. If a problem arose that Melody and Emma could not resolve, it was Jason they turned to.

And above Jason...

The identity of the elusive owner of the Imperial Nightclub remained a mystery. No one knew who they were.

Even Jason himself had never laid eyes on them.

The offices shared a common decorative theme, but Melody had a distinct preference. She had a fondness for potted plants and flowers, which she kept in her office, a stark contrast to the opulent gilded style of the rest of the establishment.

Upon entering Melody's office, an uninformed visitor might mistake it for a flower market.

The air was saturated with a medley of floral fragrances, punctuated by the scent of women's cigarettes.

"Ms. Nicholson," Natalie addressed the woman seated behind the desk.

Melody was clad in a classic black women's suit, adorned with a diamond star brooch. Beneath her suit was a black lace shirt and a pencil skirt. Her face was meticulously made up. Despite being in her late thirties, she defied her age. Her brown hair was loosely tied back, and smoke rings wafted from her red lips.

When she smiled, faint wrinkles appeared at the corners of her eyes. Her style was a complete departure from Emma's from the second group. Where Emma was seductive, Melody exuded a cool elegance.

"Natalie, you handled tonight's issue well. You'll receive an extra bonus this month."

"Thank you, Melody." Natalie dipped her head slightly, expecting Melody to continue, but instead, silence filled the room for several minutes.

Was Melody asking her to give her a bonus?

"Ms. Nicholson, I won't take up any more of your time." Natalie began to exit the office.

"Natalie, what would you do if you were falsely accused of theft tonight?" Melody's voice trailed after her.

Natalie froze, her fingers clenching the doorknob. What would she do? After a brief pause, she responded softly, "I would follow Ms. Nicholson's instructions."

Natalie thought, 'I can't afford to lose my job. Rosalie is still in the hospital waiting for me. It's unfortunate, but the poor truly don't deserve dignity.'

Melody paused for a moment before saying, "Natalie, you are a smart person."

Natalie exited Melody's office, but she didn't head straight home. It was already two in the morning, and Melody's words echoed in her mind. Was she really smart? No, she couldn't be. Rosalie had always called her a foolish girl since she was young.

She had experienced false accusations before and knew the sting of their injustice.

From a young age, she had been wrongfully accused countless times. Whenever Alice's belongings went missing, Natalie was the immediate suspect. Days later, the missing items would reappear, and Alice would claim Natalie had returned them out of guilt.

She was resilient, but each time, Rosalie would apologize to Alice, accepting the blame herself. She would say she hadn't raised her child properly. Although Mr. Cullen was kind to both Natalie and Rosalie, he always downplayed the situation and refrained from intervening.

Just like a few days ago at the Howard Villa, when she was falsely accused of stealing Alice's engagement ring.
