Chapter 180 Chess Skills
Natalie sometimes longed for the days of her childhood.
Adrian's stones were not aggressive; rather, they encircled Donte's stones in a "gentle" manner. However, each of Donte's moves was exceptionally meticulous. He seemed unwilling to make a single mistake, but the more careful he was, the more likely he was to make mistakes.
The first game ended in a draw.
Even if they played for another two hours, they still wouldn't be able to determine a winner.
In the second round, it was evident that Donte was much more cautious.
Natalie watched closely from the side. Surveying the board, she noticed that Adrian's stones had already gained a slight advantage.
However, Adrian seemed to hesitate as well. He wanted to make a decisive move but also considered giving Donte a chance to survive out of sentiment. As a result, Donte found an opening, and the game was once again even.
Rachel, on the other hand, was bored and didn't understand the game.
Adrian became increasingly cautious.
However, even the most meticulous can make mistakes. As Adrian placed a stone, a hand gently tugged at his sleeve.
Natalie's movement was so light that it was almost imperceptible.
Adrian seemed to awaken in an instant. When he made his next move, it decisively struck at Donte's weak point.
He was secretly amazed, not expecting Alice to be so skilled at chess that she could see through Donte's feint instantly.
Had Alice not tugged at his sleeve to silently remind him, he might have been at a disadvantage in this game.
Adrian glanced at "Alice" standing behind him. She looked at the board obediently and sensibly, as if the reminder had not come from her.
A sense of admiration rose in Adrian's heart. He realized he knew too little about "Alice."
Though she had a bit of a temper on ordinary days, he hadn't expected her to be so skilled at chess.
Donte's gaze also fell, almost imperceptibly, on the woman wearing sunglasses. He said to "Alice," "You play the third round."
Natalie was a bit surprised. "Me?" She waved her hand. "No, I can't."
She was worried she would lose the game.
She wasn't confident she could beat Donte. Just now, she had been a bit excited and had accidentally noticed Donte's flaw. Besides, Adrian was already meticulous and skilled at chess, so she had just given a casual hint.
If she were to play against him, she wasn't sure she would win.
Adrian stood up, leaned down, his handsome profile close, and said in a hoarse voice, "If you lose, I'll drink for you."
Natalie's face suddenly turned red.
Adrian's breath fell on her face, causing her eyelashes to tremble. She clenched her fingers. "Alright."
Rachel, who didn't understand chess, naturally didn't see that "Alice" was skilled. She assumed Adrian was intentionally letting "Alice" play the third game. She pouted, "Why are you letting her play? She doesn't know how. If she loses, Adrian, you won't be able to escape tonight!"
Adrian merely smiled slightly, his gaze falling on the chessboard.
Natalie's eyes were firm and gentle as she looked at Donte. "Let's begin."
She hadn't played chess in a long time and hoped she wasn't too rusty.
Donte nodded. "Alice, go easy on me."
Natalie replied calmly, "Don't make fun of me, please."
In this game, Natalie felt a bit nervous. If she lost, it would mean Adrian lost. Although Natalie had some confidence in her chess skills, she hadn't played in a long time.
