Chapter 741 Who's the Father?
Thinking about their lost child, Alice seemed to bawl.
Melissa jumped in, "Hey, don't be sad! This is awesome news. You should be stoked. How can a pregnant woman be all down?"
Emmett grinned, "I'm glad, too. This child is like a gift from the heavens. Check this out, it's the ultrasound. The little bean's already six weeks and doing great."
Claire took a peek at it and felt a wave of relief wash over her.
Alice was preggers, and Claire decided to let Alice's past screw-ups slide. The kid was what mattered most.
Ruben chimed in, "Alice, since you got a bun in the oven, you should chill on the entertainment biz. Just kick back at home and make sure the baby arrives safe and sound."
Alice bit her lip; that wasn't her game plan.
Lately, Alice had been hunting down Adrian because One Day lost its funding. She hit up the Howard Group a bunch, but the receptionist always said Adrian was not around, and she only got to see Brice.
Brice would say he'd pass the message along, but he was just blowing smoke.
Alice knew Adrian was definitely at the Howard Group, but he was dodging her. Adrian was getting colder by the day.
If Alice didn't make a move, Adrian might really end up with that skank Natalie.
Alice had been hanging with Carlos a lot lately. Carlos hated using condoms, so it wasn't a shocker she got pregnant. She was gonna get an abortion, but then the funding drama hit, so she decided to use the baby as a bargaining chip.
Alice wasn't about to just sit at home and wait to pop. She wanted to use the baby to force Adrian into marrying her.
Alice shot a look at Emmett, who quickly said, "Yeah, but this is Alice's second time around, and it's also been two years since she met Adrian. They've been engaged for two years now. The loss of the first baby was a huge blow for Alice. Now that she's finally pregnant again, I think it's time to set the wedding date."
Claire nodded. She glanced at Joe, about to say something, but Joe gave her a look to keep quiet.
Melissa looked at Claire and then at Adrian. Adrian had been stone-cold silent the whole time. His eyes stared at the floor like ice.
Hearing about Alice's pregnancy, Adrian didn't even flinch. Not a single emotion crossed his face.
Alice stared at Adrian, hoping to see some reaction on his handsome mug, but was disappointed to see none. He stayed indifferent, like he couldn't care less about her being pregnant.
Ruben said in a serious tone, "We should definitely think about it. Adrian, what's your take?"
Adrian, who had been quiet, finally looked up when his name was called. He stared at Alice and said, "Are you sure the kid's mine?"
Alice freaked, her voice getting all tense. "Adrian, what are you saying? Of course, it's yours. How could it not be? Don't you remember? A month ago, in Rosewood City, you were on a business trip, and I was filming there. You got wasted that night."
Adrian squinted, his icy gaze making Alice squirm. He did go to Rosewood City a month ago for a deal.
He drank with his business partner and got dragged back to the hotel by his assistant. But that was it. He didn't remember seeing Alice.
