Chapter 404 Not Mad with Me Anymore?
Natalie asked, "Mom, where'd you go today?"
Rosalie was caught off guard. "I went grocery shopping."
Natalie said, "The fridge is already packed."
Rosalie knew she couldn't keep it a secret anymore. "I went to the hospital."
Natalie pressed her lips together.
Rosalie said, "Ms. Cullen had an accident. I was worried and wanted to check on her. Natalie, I watched her grow up. She's just a bit spoiled, but she doesn't mean any harm."
"She doesn't mean any harm? Have you forgotten how she and Avery hurt us? Have you forgotten who locked you up in the mental hospital? Do you know how they threatened me?"
Because of this, she had lost a child.
Natalie closed her eyes. She could never forget that child.
Natalie opened her eyes. "Mom, I know you're kind, but your kindness towards them isn't returned."
Rosalie moved her lips but didn't know what to say. "Natalie."
"Mom." Natalie walked over and hugged Rosalie, resting her face on Rosalie's shoulder. "I just want you to be healthy."
Rosalie hugged Natalie tightly. "Natalie, I promise you, I won't go anymore. I'll stay home and wait for you every day."
Natalie said, "Mom, I'll work hard to make money. Once I have enough, we'll move to a better house. I'll find you a better hospital and better medicine. I just want you to be healthy and always be with me."
Rosalie remarked, "Natalie, how can I always be with you? You should find a boyfriend."
Natalie refused, "No, I just want you to be with me forever."
In the evening, Natalie went to the cinema.
She didn't mean to be late. She was helping Rosalie tidy up the house and lost track of time. By the time she realized it, she remembered she had a date with Adrian.
And she was the one who initiated it. She was almost half an hour late.
When she arrived at the theater, it was already 7:30 PM.
Natalie looked around. It was Sunday, and the cinema was packed. The waiting area outside was almost full, but Natalie didn't see Adrian.
No way, Adrian wouldn't be that petty, would he? She was just a little late, and he left?
Natalie pressed her lips together, stood on her tiptoes, and looked around, feeling a bit disappointed.
He really left.
Natalie took out her phone and called Adrian.
Adrian didn't answer.
Natalie thought, 'Is he really mad? Is he mad that I stood him up? Or does he think I did it on purpose?'
Natalie sighed softly and walked over to a claw machine. She exchanged for ten tokens and failed to grab anything with nine of them.
Great, she upset Adrian and didn't get any toys.
Natalie looked at the last token in her hand.
She put it in, and the machine started. Suddenly, a hand reached over from behind her, holding her fingers. Natalie was enveloped in a familiar scent.
She was taken aback. She knew this scent well. It was Adrian's. He hadn't left?
Adrian held her fingers, gently guiding the machine, and a toy dropped down.
Natalie excitedly bent down to pick it up. "You actually got it."
"Easy as pie." Adrian had a handful of tokens. He put in another one and easily grabbed another toy.
Natalie looked at him. "You didn't leave."
"Yes, Ms. Teeger, are you happy now?" Adrian looked at her. "Not mad at me anymore?"
Natalie pressed her lips together. "Oh, I wouldn't dare."
"Do you like it?" Adrian bent down to pick up a toy. "If you like them, they're all yours."
