Chapter 418 Overthinking
"Hey Mr. Griffin, this coffee's from Natalie for everyone."
Chris grabbed the coffee and gave a nod. They'd been shooting all day, and it's way past time to wrap. He was beat, both body and soul. That coffee was a lifesaver. He took a sip and asked, "Natalie?"
An assistant nearby chimed in, "The actress playing Luna, also from Dynamic Entertainment."
Chris rolled his eyes. "I've been filming with her for a week. You think I wouldn't know?" He glanced over at Natalie, who was chilling with Harper not far away. There was this calm, warm vibe about her. Her face was stunning. Even though she was quiet, she had this way of drawing people in.
Chris's eyes stayed on her for a solid 20 seconds before he looked away. The last time he checked out a female star like that was when he was watching a famous actress.
Chris muttered, "Not bad."
The assistant thought he misheard. "What?"
Chris repeated, "Didn't expect a company like Dynamic Entertainment, which popped up outta nowhere, to have such a good artist."
The assistant was shocked that someone as picky as Chris would give Natalie such props.
But Natalie was the real deal. The assistant took a sip of his coffee. At least, out of all the artists, only Natalie thought to buy them coffee. She was never late, never forgot her lines, and could even remember her co-stars' lines.
Chris sipped his coffee, thinking back to his first impression of Natalie. When he first saw her, she showed up on set without an assistant or any staff, just a crossbody bag with a water bottle, an umbrella, and some random stuff. No script. While other actors were memorizing lines, she was on her phone.
He kinda looked down on her, assuming someone without a film school degree couldn't be professional.
Did Natalie really think acting was as easy as a magazine shoot? She was just a pretty face.
But during the actual filming, she blew him away. She had already memorized the script's lines, even her co-stars' lines.
That's when he started to change his mind about her.
Still, he thought it was a shame that such a talented actress like Natalie wasn't getting promoted at Dynamic Entertainment. In a youth film, they only gave her a minor supporting role.
The entertainment biz was tough. No matter how beautiful and talented Natalie was, without connections, it was useless. Without backers, she could only play minor roles in various movies and TV shows in a big agency.
Chris sighed and shook his head.
Natalie was reading a book, totally unaware that in Chris and her colleagues' minds, she was already seen as a talented and beautiful but background-less actress stuck in supporting roles.
Yvonne handed Natalie her phone. "Natalie, your phone's ringing. It's Mindy."
Natalie took it and answered, "Hey, Mindy."
Mindy asked, "You still on set?"
Natalie replied, "Yeah."
Mindy said, "I heard Samantha's late."
Natalie said, "Yeah, she hasn't shown up yet. It's been..." She checked her watch. "She's 58 minutes late."
Mindy said, "Is it holding you up? If you need to go, you can leave first. I'll talk to the crew."
Natalie shrugged and sighed. She was indeed hold up, but she had asked Adrian for leave, so it should be fine. "Samantha should be here soon. I heard there was traffic. There's nothing much on my end. The other actors and staff are waiting too. Just wait a bit longer."
"Okay, hit me up if anything comes up." Mindy was about to hang up but suddenly remembered. "Oh, by the way, has Karen contacted you recently?"
Natalie thought, 'Karen? Isn't she Alice's agent?'
