Chapter 449 Entanglement
Bella got up to hit the restroom, washed her hands, fixed her makeup, and strolled out. As she turned the corner, she smacked right into someone's chest. Rubbing her nose, she muttered, "Dang, your bones are like rocks, that hurt."
Nicholas heard a soft voice griping and instinctively said, "My bad."
When he looked up, he realized it was the girl who'd been complaining from the table behind him. But her name? Total blank.
He quickly checked her out. Without the dim lighting of the restaurant and the booth's cover, he could see her face clearly. Her skin was like porcelain, her features delicate—she was pretty cute.
Judging by her outfit, she didn't seem like a wild one, so why was she talking so rough?
Nicholas raised an eyebrow. "You good, miss?"
Bella rubbed her nose, which felt like it almost broke from the hit. "Yeah, I'm fine."
Her voice was a bit nasal. She stepped aside and walked past him without even glancing at his face, treating the whole thing like a minor hiccup.
She got back to her seat and plopped down. "Natalie, my phone screen shattered this morning. Then, while eating, oil splashed on my clothes. Just now, I ran into this guy coming out of the restroom and nearly broke my nose. Luckily, my nose is real; otherwise, it would've been crooked. What the heck are that guy's bones made of? It hurt like hell."
Nicholas had just returned to his seat and overheard Bella's rant. He looked down at his open jacket, noticing the two metal buttons gleaming. She must've bumped into one of them.
Nicholas wondered, 'What did I do to tick her off? Why's she gotta complain about me in public?'
Nicholas suddenly found himself a bit intrigued by this woman.
At 9 PM, Nicholas got home.
He rarely went back to the Reynolds family, but tonight, there was something important.
Cassidy Perez was lounging on the couch and looked at Nicholas. "Nicholas, you're back. Austin's getting worse. When we headed upstairs, Austin was like 'no show', probably crashed out now. Brian Gonzalez is outside holding it down, he's got the most faith in you, so go peep in on him."
"Alright, got it." Nicholas shrugged off his jacket and handed it to a servant, then headed upstairs.
Cassidy sat on the couch, took a sip of water from the coffee table, and signaled to the servant. The servant got the hint, hung the jacket on the coat rack, and then quietly went upstairs to the third floor, ready to eavesdrop.
The housekeeper, Lucy Carter, came out holding a bowl of porridge. She noticed Nicholas's jacket on the coat rack and keenly spotted a strand of golden hair.
"Mrs. Reynolds, check this out!" Lucy quickly took the jacket down and handed it to Cassidy.
Cassidy saw the woman's hair and smirked. "I knew it."
Nicholas was just a playboy, always out chasing some fun and bad women, never focusing on the Reynolds Group. The entertainment company was purely a fluke, with Nicholas in name only, while the real work was done by the vice CEO, Valerie Nelson.
Such a person wasn't fit to compete with her son for the family inheritance!
Once Xavier Reynolds kicked the bucket, everything in the Reynolds family would belong to her and her son.
Lucy handed the porridge to Cassidy. "Mrs. Reynolds, don't stress. Mr. Nicholas Reynolds isn't qualified to compete with Mr. Walter Reynolds. Let's wait for Mr. Walter Reynolds to mature, with your support. When Mr. Xavier Reynolds kicks the bucket, you'll be in charge of the Reynolds clan. As for Mr. Austin Reynolds..."
Cassidy took a sip of the porridge. "Him? With Austin's health condition..."
Lucy whispered, "He definitely won't make it through the year."
