Chapter 108 Exploiting the Situation

Zoe, having swiftly regained her composure, found herself echoing Grace's sentiments. Her gaze was drawn to Anna, a wave of relief washing over her. The numbness in her palms was a stark reminder of her anxiety, her eyes flickering nervously towards her bag.

Serena, with an uncanny ease, saw through Anna's ploy. Her voice was generous, her words casual, "It's merely a bracelet, Anna. I'll buy you a new one tomorrow."

Anna's face broke into a smile at Serena's promise, "You're the best!"

Serena's attention shifted to Natalie, her eyes squinting in a playful smile, "Natalie, do you work here?" As she spoke, her gaze drifted over Natalie's attire - a simple work uniform in stark black and red, a shirt paired with a skirt.

Natalie responded with a nod, "Is there anything else you need? Since it's Ms. Baker's birthday, I could arrange for a cake from the kitchen."

"No need," Serena dismissed, "We've already ordered a cake. It should be arriving shortly."

Anna's gaze landed on Natalie, her thoughts swirling, 'Just an ordinary waitress. I wonder why Serena is defending her.'

"Serena, who is she?" Anna inquired.

"She's a friend of mine who happens to work here," Serena replied.

Natalie was taken aback; she hadn't anticipated Serena's response.

After all, She was just a regular waitress, her salary wouldn't even cover a single beauty treatment for these young ladies. How could she possibly be friends with someone like Serena?! Natalie wasn't the only one surprised; the other young ladies were equally taken aback.

Serena, being Wilson's granddaughter, was a figure many young ladies sought to please. Thus, when Serena declared Natalie as her friend, the others had no choice but to maintain decorum.

Anna's lips curled into a smile, "So you're Serena's friend. Hello, I'm Anna."

"Hello," Natalie replied, "I'll prepare a fruit platter for you. Please wait a moment."

Serena found herself in a state of uncertainty, yet she couldn't shake off the sense of familiarity and warmth that Natalie exuded. Unlike the other girls who either bent over backwards to please her or wore their arrogance like a badge, Natalie's demeanor was a breath of fresh air. It was a polite, unassuming attitude that drew Serena in, making her yearn to know Natalie better.

Just the day before, Serena had been fretting over forgetting to exchange contact information with Natalie before she left in a rush. However, now that she knew Natalie worked here, she felt a sense of relief. She could always visit more frequently in the future.

Natalie promptly returned with a platter of fruits, and Serena seized the opportunity to engage her in conversation. As they chatted, Natalie informed her, "Ms. Nicholson, I've sent the dress you lent me for dry cleaning. Once it's cleaned, I will return it to you."

Serena's brow furrowed in displeasure. "Didn't I tell you that I gave it to you?" she asked, "And, just call me Serena. Stop calling me 'Ms. Nicholson,' it's too formal."

Natalie felt a bit helpless in the face of this overly curious young lady.

"Natalie, the dress you wore yesterday was stunning. What brand was it?" Serena interrupted.

"Ms. Nicholson..."

"Your hairstyle last night was also beautiful, even better than what my special stylist does. Did you do it yourself?" Serena asked.

"Se... Serena."

"That's right!" Serena nodded, finally satisfied with the response.

Natalie was taken aback by the attentiveness of this elegantly dressed young woman. "Se... Serena, I still have work to do."

"Didn't the manager assign you to work here? Ah, I understand! Then bring us two bottles of wine, just choose randomly, as long as they're not too high in alcohol content."

"Okay, there are some new fruit wines in the wine cellar, I'll go get them for you."

With that, Natalie hastily excused herself from the private room. She found it challenging to handle lively personalities like Serena.

Taking advantage of the situation, Natalie made her way to the wine cellar to fetch the wine. Afterwards, she headed to the lounge where she saw Susan and Denise.

Upon seeing Natalie, Denise's eyes welled up with tears. "Those rich people, all they're good at is bullying others! They accuse me of stealing when something goes missing!!"

"It's alright, isn't it all resolved now?"

"Thank goodness you were there, Natalie. Do you know Serena Nicholson?" Susan curiously asked.

"How do you know her name is Serena Nicholson?"

"Don't you know? Don't you follow entertainment news? Serena Nicholson comes from a wealthy family and entered the entertainment industry after graduation. A few days ago, she even won a Newcomer Award."

Natalie was taken aback. So Serena was actually a rising star in the entertainment industry. Natalie had never paid much attention to entertainment news before, as she was mostly focused on studying and working. Now... she had even less time to spare.

Susan was still buzzing with excitement. "I never imagined you knew her. Thank goodness you helped, otherwise Denise would have had a miserable night, being fired would've been the least of her worries."

Denise sniffled softly. "Natalie, thank you."

"It's nothing, actually what startled me today was both of you and Susan."
Denise sighed as she wiped her eyes. "I didn't steal anything," she said helplessly. "I'm not dumb enough to steal a diamond bracelet worth over a hundred thousand dollars from my workplace."

Natalie sighed, knowing all too well. "But denying things won't solve them."

Natalie asked Susan to stay by her side, glanced at the time, and said, "I have to go back to the private room. We can talk later after work."

When Natalie returned to the private room, Serena tried to persuade her to exchange contact information.
