Chapter 476 Encounter
Bella was chillin' by the bookshelf.
Every time she bounced, she'd snag a book.
She'd bring it back when she rolled through a few days later.
It was like this unspoken thing between her and Austin.
Bella asked, "What's up?"
Austin strolled over to the desk, popped open a drawer, and pulled out this dark blue velvet box.
Bella, coming from a family of jewelers, knew right away it was a jewelry box.
She'd been around bling her whole life and had seen it all.
"It ain't worth much, just a piece of amethyst I cut myself. Back when I was feelin' better, I hit up a crystal mine with a buddy and scored a raw stone. I cut it myself and made a pendant."
Bella held it in her hand. "Is this for me?"
Austin nodded, watching her face like he was scared she wouldn't dig it. After all, she'd seen so much fancy stuff since she was a kid. He felt kinda lame, thinking he couldn't even surprise her with a gift.
Bella's eyes lit up. "I love it, thanks."
Austin smiled. "As long as you like it."
Bella carefully tucked the velvet box into her bag. She left the bedroom, her steps way lighter as she headed downstairs. Lately, she'd gotten really into Austin.
Interest was the start of liking someone.
Maybe, life married into the Reynolds family wouldn't be so bad.
She started hoping Austin would get better. She even wished these moments could last longer.
A black Range Rover pulled up at the Reynolds Mansion entrance.
Nicholas hopped out, tossed the keys to a servant, and strutted inside.
Wherever he went, the servants bowed their heads. "Mr. Reynolds."
Nicholas walked into the living room with long strides. Bella was coming down the stairs, and their eyes locked. Nicholas instantly recognized the girl in front of him as Bella.
He slowed his steps.
Bella heard the servant call out 'Mr. Reynolds' and then looked up at Nicholas. This dude looked so much like Austin, almost a carbon copy.
She'd heard that Austin and Nicholas were twins, with super similar looks.
But at first glance, even though Nicholas looked like Austin with those deep eyes and high nose bridge, his vibe was way more intense, while Austin had this gentle, clear aura.
One was chill, the other was ice-cold.
Nicholas was about to head upstairs, and Bella stepped aside to let him pass. Nicholas stopped next to her, his voice deep and raspy, like an expensive cello. "Ms. Swan."
Bella took a deep breath. "Mr. Reynolds."
Nicholas asked, "Ms. Swan, you heading out?"
His gaze was so intense, like he was trying to see right through her. Bella felt a chill run down her spine.
Her back trembled slightly. In just a few minutes of interaction, she already didn't like Nicholas.
Bella nodded. "Yeah, Austin's about to crash, so I should bounce too."
Nicholas shifted his gaze and strode up the stairs.
Bella let out a deep breath and patted her chest.
Nicholas reached the second floor, a slight smirk of disdain on his lips. "So she's already calling him Austin. Looks like Cassidy's pick knows how to play the game."
He went up to the third floor. Brian looked at him. "Mr. Reynolds, you're back."
Nicholas asked, "How's Austin?"
Brian replied, "Ms. Swan left, so Mr. Austin Reynolds should be asleep."
