Chapter 131 Absent-Mindedness
He changed into a clean outfit, shaved his beard, and looked refreshed. In the car, he casually asked, "Have you eaten? There's a restaurant nearby. Let's eat here, and I'll take you back."
Jagger looked like this.
Natalie felt uncomfortable.
Her power was small, and she didn't know how to help him.
She bit her lip when she remembered the helplessness of Jagger's parents and Dorian's words.
Throughout the day, Natalie was preoccupied until evening, when she arrived at the Imperial Nightclub. Denise and Susan noticed Natalie's distraction. "What's wrong?"
Natalie briefly mentioned Jagger's situation. Denise said, "Could someone deliberately frame your boyfriend? Think about it, your boyfriend has been working for so many years, performing so many major surgeries. How could a big problem arise? Moreover, the patient's family taking it to court. I think this is not a simple surgical error."
Susan added, "I think Denise has a point."
Denise recalled being wrongly accused by Anna of stealing and sighed helplessly. "For people like us, there's nowhere to appeal when falsely accused."
Natalie fell silent.
At that moment, the evening work assignments came in.
Tonight, Natalie was responsible for room 309 with Benjamin Sterling, a waiter under Emma's leadership.
According to the rules, one person stands outside, and one goes inside.
Benjamin tried to slack off and said, "Natalie, you go in."
Natalie had no objections. In her eyes, it didn't matter where she stood.
She entered the room, glanced around, estimating that it wasn't full yet, with only three people inside, two men and a woman. She asked them what drinks they wanted.
Then she turned and walked towards the door. As she opened it, she suddenly saw a figure outside, and she noticed a pair of high-end men's shoes.
She stepped aside to let the guest in first. The man walked in, took off his coat, handed it to her, and a deep voice sounded. "Hang it up."
Natalie took it, her fingers trembling.
That voice was familiar.
"Adrian, we thought you weren't coming." A coquettish female voice sounded.
Adrian walked over slowly, unbuttoning his shirt cuffs, the exquisite cuffs gleaming with a golden sheen. A faint smile graced his face. "Today is Declan's birthday. How could I not come?"
Declan Hayes, a wealthy young man sitting next to a socialite, asked, "Thank you, Adrian, for this favor. Adrian, where's Mr. Cook?"
"He's behind."
Another person walked in at the door.
It was Colby. Colby walked in cheerfully, took off his coat, ready to hand it to the waiter, but then he looked closely. "Natalie!"
It surprised Declan and the others that a wealthy young man would casually call out a waitress's name. A socialite asked, "Mr. Cook, do you know this waitress?"
Colby glanced at her and casually remarked, "Isn't her name on the badge?"
Natalie hung up their coats on the rack, intending to switch with Benjamin and let him go inside. However, Benjamin returned from the wine cellar complaining of a stomach ache, so Natalie had to go back inside.
Gradually, more people arrived in the room, about seven or eight in total, both men and women.
After celebrating the birthday, they played cards and sang songs.
"Adrian, why didn't you bring your wife?"
Adrian looked up and calmly replied, "Next time."
