Chapter 221 Took a Group Photo

Ashley glanced at Natalie. "Aren't you heading east?"

Natalie's voice was steady. "Nope, you go ahead. There'll be plenty of people over there."

Ashley hesitated, watching Natalie walk away. She quickly caught up. "I'll go west with you. If we hit a fence, we can just turn back. But this route doesn't seem all that exciting."

They walked on.

The forest was almost wild. Weeds were everywhere with mosquitoes, bugs, and rodents. After a few minutes, Natalie felt an itch on her neck, like something had bitten her. She pulled out some anti-itch spray from her bag, sprayed it, and wrapped a scarf around her neck.

Ashley, used to a cushy life, was in a place like this for the first time. But she wasn't fussy. When she got bitten, she just sprayed some repellent, copying Natalie. She followed behind, but the deeper they went, the more nervous she got. "Natalie, do you think there are snakes here?"

Natalie replied, "Probably."

The climate was humid, trees dense. It was hot, but the canopy blocked the sun, making it steamy. Perfect for snakes and bugs to live.

Ashley was curious, snapping pictures of everything with her phone. She documented every new plant they saw. They moved slowly, cautious about going too deep, but their curiosity kept them going.

Not far off was an artificial lake. They found a clean spot, laid down some leaves, and sat by a tree to rest. Ashley took out her camera and started shooting nearby.

"Adrian, Rachel, didn't you go east? How'd you end up here?" Ashley looked up, spotting a group approaching. She called out excitedly.

Colby and Adrian led the group, both in light sportswear—gray long sleeves and pants, with baseball caps. Rachel trailed behind, complaining about the bugs and itching.

Rachel asked, "Ashley, are you alone?"

Ashley shook her head. "No, Natalie's here too." She pointed. "She's by the lake."

She called out, "Natalie, Natalie!"

Natalie walked over. Despite the short distance, the dense trees and tall grass made it hard to see. Only when she got closer did she notice Adrian.

She frowned. Wasn't Adrian supposed to go east?

She had gone the opposite way to avoid him, yet here they were.

Ashley, holding her camera, suggested happily, "Let's take some pictures here."

Rachel nodded. "Sounds great."

They started with selfies, trying different angles and filters. Then Ashley pulled out her camera and tripod.

Natalie stood aside, not planning to join. Adrian, Colby, and Rachel stood together with Adrian in the center. Ashley set up the camera and timer and then waved to Natalie. "Natalie, come over here. Let's take one picture together."

Natalie stayed put.

Ashley walked over and pulled her into the shot.

At that moment, the camera clicked, capturing Ashley pulling Natalie, both half in the frame.
