Chapter 849 Humiliation
"What did you just say? You got an invite to Rebecca's socialite gala?" Alice's smile froze in an attitude of disbelief, her fingers tightening.
Alice thought, 'It's humiliating. Never in this lifetime would I forget it.'
Diana didn't catch the stiff smile on Alice's face. She was too excited to share the news. After all, Alice had a noble status, and going to such events should've been easy for her. But because of her recent miscarriage, she needed to rest and couldn't attend. Diana said, "A cousin of mine got an invite to the gala. We're close, so she said she could bring me along."
Even though she was just tagging along, Diana was thrilled. It was her first time going to such a fancy event, and her excitement showed.
Seeing Alice's unhappy expression, Diana got cautious. She thought Alice was upset because she wasn't feeling well and quickly said, "Alice, just focus on getting better. It's just a gala. If you want to go, it would be a piece of cake for you. The most important thing now is your health; everything else can wait."
As Diana spoke, she placed a cushion behind Alice's back. "I brought you some desserts. You can have a little even after surgery."
Alice glanced at the BVLGARI desserts and nodded. "Just put it aside."
Diana picked up her phone, always keeping an eye on online news. After scrolling through a few videos, she saw an interview with Rebecca. She quickly turned down the volume, afraid Alice would hear it. She looked up and saw Alice eating the BVLGARI dessert she had brought.
Alice wasn't invited. Not only that, but she was also affronted by Rebecca.
This interview really hit Alice hard. No wonder she looked so upset earlier.
Diana got nervous, hoping Alice wouldn't be mad at her. She knew Alice's personality. If Alice weren't feeling unwell and lying here, she would probably have thrown a fit.
Diana quickly changed the subject. "Alice, on my way over, I saw a poster for Natalie's new movie, 'The Nameless Road'. Did you know it's out? I heard it's doing pretty well at the box office."
Diana was afraid Alice would be mad and ignore her in the future, so she immediately brought up Natalie. After all, Natalie was a sore spot for Alice.
As soon as Diana mentioned Natalie, Alice frowned. "What? Natalie's movie is out? Is it 'Rising Winds'?"
Alice had no idea.
Diana shook her head. "No, it's 'The Nameless Road', not very famous, and the director is a small-time director."
Alice gritted her teeth. "Whatever. It's going to flop anyway. I thought it was 'Rising Winds'. I bet Natalie has put all her resources into 'Rising Winds'. As long as 'Rising Winds' doesn't fail, her future is set."
