Chapter 776 Frequent Troubles
Back then, Chris didn't really have high hopes for Natalie. He just wanted her to not go overboard with her acting. But after a few days of working together, he realized she had memorized everyone's lines and was super serious during rehearsals. She was a bit of a romantic too, always talking about her boyfriend.
Seeing Natalie making steady progress now, Chris felt genuinely happy for her.
Natalie grinned. "Yeah, we're in love for a long time."
"Well, I wish you both all the happiness," Chris said. "Is he in the entertainment biz?"
Natalie shook her head. "No, but he's kinda related."
Dynamic Entertainment was under Adrian's name, after all.
Chris was a bit taken aback.
It wasn't like Chris was overthinking, but he'd heard some gossip about Natalie.
As her friend, Chris didn't want to meddle in her private life. Everyone had their own stuff going on, and Chris had his own friends. He'd heard that Natalie's financial backer was a big shot at Dynamic Entertainment. Chris had a hunch that the person behind Natalie was pretty influential. If it weren't for Natalie starring in his new movie, there wouldn't have been so much investment.
Chris said, "Natalie, you're beautiful, smart, and talented. As a friend, I hope you can avoid getting caught up in the mess of the entertainment industry. I also hope you become more famous."
"Thanks." Natalie smiled. "I hope you get better and better, too."
Chris was super talented but didn't get much recognition.
Esme's appreciation alone wasn't enough.
Chris needed his own market.
Meanwhile, when Derek pulled back the police tape and walked in, he was immediately stopped by the cops. "It's dangerous in there. You need to leave now."
Derek flashed his credentials and gave a crisp military salute. "Hello, officer. Former Deputy Captain of the International ZUW Mercenary Organization, Derek."
Derek walked in.
The cops there were local officers who could handle everyday stuff, but they were clearly out of their league with organized robbers. They needed more professional SWAT team members, but the incident had happened so suddenly, and the SWAT team was still on their way.
Captain Campbell glanced at Derek. "You were the captain of the SUW Mercenary Organization?"
"Yep."
Campbell was a seasoned cop, but even he found the situation pretty tricky.
Campbell said, "Alright, inside there are 8 hostages, 6 of them are store employees, and 2 are customers, one of whom is a pregnant woman. There are 6 robbers, all armed and masked."
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out, followed by a bunch of screams.
A female officer hurried over and said, "The pregnant woman's in bad shape! We need to get her out now!"
Derek's eyes were intense as he stared at the tightly closed door of the jewelry store. He said in a deep voice, "Is there a doctor?"
"Yeah, the medical team is here."
Derek pressed his lips together and glanced at the few young female doctors in white coats who had scuttered over. They all looked scared out of their minds. They wanted to help, but they were also terrified.
No one knew what might happen next.
They were young female doctors, and it was normal to be scared.
Campbell looked at Derek, waiting for him to say something.
