Chapter 707 Withdrawing from Filming
[Whoa, no way! There's an actual contract? This blogger's gotta be an insider!]
[Alice, give it a rest. You took the role, and we ain't Natalie’s fans, just here for the drama. Whether the role goes to Natalie or you, we don't care. We're just here for the show. But since you had the guts to do it, why scared of us watching?]
[Same here. Just here for the drama. Is Alice gonna send me a cease and desist too? This is straight-up stealing someone else's role. If you got it with your acting skills, cool, but Natalie was about to sign, and you used your connections to snatch it. That's low!]
[Are these cease and desist letters on sale or what?]
[Not watching One Day. Not giving a single cent when it drops.]
[+1 Not watching One Day.]
[+2 Not giving a single cent.]
Victoria scrolled through the comments online. Things had gone from trash-talking Alice to full-on boycotting One Day.
Victoria slammed the table in frustration. She was already pissed at Alice for replacing Natalie.
Sure, Alice and Natalie looked kinda alike, but their personalities were night and day.
Natalie was sweet, obedient, and hardworking, while Alice was a spoiled, bossy rich girl who wasn't here to act but to take a vacation.
Victoria didn't need an actress like Alice.
But Alice was the lead, and her role was huge. Alice would memorize her lines on set and then forget them. Her acting sucked, and her facial expressions were all wrong. Her over-the-top acting was hopeless.
One scene took an hour to shoot. Now, thanks to Alice, Victoria's carefully crafted film was getting boycotted. And the boycotts spread fast.
Victoria had been watching Alice on the monitor these past few days, and her acting was truly awful.
If this film got released, it would trash Victoria's reputation and prestige.
Victoria, a Best Actress Grand Slam winner, had starred in films that grossed over $20 billion. One Day was her baby. She had poured so much effort into it. The script was her labor of love. She believed the plot was solid.
But even a solid plot couldn't survive Alice's terrible acting.
If Alice kept up this level of acting and lack of dedication, Victoria would mentally check out of this film.
Victoria would rather the film never see the light of day. She didn't want to destroy the reputation she had built over decades. Climbing to the top was hard, but falling was easy.
Victoria's decades of reputation could be ruined by this one film.
This would make it tough for her to get investment for future projects.
Victoria told her assistant, "Get me a leave of absence. Say I had a heart attack and need to be hospitalized. Let the assistant director handle the rest of the shoot."
Victoria decided to step back. She'd leave the film to the assistant director.
If it bombed at the box office when it released, it wouldn't be her fault. She had done her best. She just felt a bit sorry for Natalie. After all, she had discussed the plot with Natalie for so long.
They talked about the character of the lead role, but in the end, Alice got the part.
