Chapter 586 Hope
Why was it that every time Natalie felt like she had hit rock bottom, Adrian swooped in and gave her a sliver of hope?
Tonight, Adrian told her to call off the press conference.
He wanted to help Alice.
Natalie was pissed, hurt, and heartbroken, her heart already frozen over.
But then, thanks to a spectacular firework show, her heart started to thaw.
Natalie thought, 'Adrian, why do you always mess with my feelings? What do you even see me as?'
Natalie said, "My birthday?"
Adrian nibbled on her earlobe, a playful punishment. "Natalie, you forgot your own birthday?"
Natalie nodded with a bitter smile. "Yeah, I guess I really did."
When Natalie first hit the scene, the company made her change her birthday. The one they announced was a few months off from her real one. Apparently, all the newbies did this to keep their real birth dates under wraps.
Everyone changed it once when they debuted.
Natalie was straight-up and only changed the month, not her age.
She never told Adrian that this wasn't her real birthday.
Natalie's real birthday was the same day as Alice's.
Natalie and Alice were born on the same day. Avery thought it was weird, so he had Rosalie change Natalie's birthday, making her seem older.
But Natalie was the real deal, the true heiress of the Cullen family.
It was just ridiculous.
Even her birthday was fake.
The grand fireworks display in front of her had already fizzled out.
But the words "Happy Birthday." and" Wish You a Worry-Free Life" formed by drones were still hanging in the sky.
"From now on, I'm spending every birthday of yours with you, Natalie. I'll always be with you." Adrian hugged her tight from behind.
Adrian had misunderstood Natalie for too long. Gradually, Natalie had wormed her way into Adrian's heart. He'd come to terms with his feelings; he liked her and wanted her by his side forever.
Natalie stared at the night sky, lost in thought.
Adrian, usually so cool and detached, had rarely spoken such sweet words. After prepping for a long time, he found Natalie lost in the night sky. Adrian chuckled and couldn't resist biting her delicate earlobe. Natalie winced in pain and snapped back to reality.
"Did you not hear what I just said?" Adrian's voice carried a hint of annoyance and hurt.
Natalie really hadn't heard him. "Sorry, I was just lost in thought."
Adrian, who had rarely prepared such tender words, had fought himself to spit them out. It seemed remotely likely for him to repeat his embarrassing words. "Scatterbrain, you can't even remember your own birthday. I said, I want to spend your birthdays with you from now on."
Natalie smiled, turned around, and hugged Adrian's waist. "Did you make time especially for today?"
Adrian smirked. "Yeah."
Adrian had been dealing with some tricky business stuff lately, but he had to plan Natalie's birthday right. If it weren't for those messy photos, it would've been even better. Natalie wouldn't have been upset, and Adrian wouldn't have almost clashed with her because of Alice.
Adrian had already ordered an investigation into the source of the photos and the account that posted them. He'd get the results soon.
Natalie buried her face in Adrian's chest, clearly hearing his heartbeat. She bit her lip, slowly closed her eyes, and soaked in this moment of warmth. "I like it, of course, I like you spending my birthday with me. I'm just afraid of wasting your time."
