Chapter 842 Stayed Out All Night

The faint smell of breakfast told Natalie that Adrian hadn't been gone long and had been there all night. But he didn't sleep next to her.

Why not?

Before she could further think about it, there was a knock at the door. She opened it to find Adrian standing there. Her eyes lit up. "You're back."

Adrian glanced at her bare feet, scooped her up, and set her on the sofa, slipping her slippers on.

"Not wearing shoes again? What if you catch a cold?" he chided gently.

Natalie watched his fingers as he helped her with the slippers. "I won't. There's carpet and underfloor heating."

The house was warm, with the air conditioning on.

She was in her loungewear. It was winter outside, but inside felt like spring.

She glanced out the window and smiled. "It's snowing again."

They both burst into speech.

Turning back to Adrian, she asked, "What did you go out to do?"

"Natalie, we..." Adrian's eyes were full of tenderness.

"You go first," Adrian said.

"What did you go out to do?" she repeated, noticing he came back empty-handed.

"I had something to prepare," he replied, looking at her. "Are you free today? No work, right?"

"Nope."

"Great. Come with me somewhere later," Adrian said, not wanting to wait.

"Okay," Natalie agreed.

"The Nameless Road" was killing it at the box office.

Heather had already gotten several movie audition notices, with three big ones lined up for next week. The auditions were just a formality; if Natalie fit the role and wanted it, it was hers.

Natalie had nailed it with "The Nameless Road."

In just three days, her Facebook followers shot up by a million. Her latest post promoting the movie had over 100,000 comments, all praising her acting.

The movie was on track to break $1 billion in revenue. Industry predictions were sky-high.

Meanwhile, the big IP "Chase Sound" was losing its shine. Its previous box office numbers were good, but each sequel had more plot holes and logical inconsistencies. The box office was high, but so was the criticism.

In this Christmas season, there were too many commercial movies, and slapstick humor wasn't cutting it anymore.

Audiences were getting pickier. While "The Nameless Road" had its clichés and wasn't perfect, it was sincere. The actors were mostly newcomers, with Natalie being the only familiar face, and she had no big hits before this. Director Chris had a few decent teen movies but played mostly an assistant director in it.

This time, the audience got something fresh and different.

"The Nameless Road" was super inspirational.

It gave strength to those starting their own business, a fighting spirit to those who had failed, and made successful people reminisce about their past.

As for Chris, ever since "The Nameless Road" took off, investors approached him to know if he had a sequel planned, or any other scripts in the works.
