Chapter 1391 Worry Leads to Chaos
Quincy glanced at Melissa, a bit taken aback. "Why didn't you tell me about this sooner?"
"You were still in the hospital then. I didn't want to add to your stress."
Quincy shook his head. "I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill. Natalie was single before, so it's totally normal for Daniel to like her. They're just playing chess now. I've played chess with Natalie too, and she's really good at it. You're probably overthinking this."
He gave Melissa's hand a comforting pat.
Daniel came downstairs and saw his parents sitting in the living room, looking like they were waiting for him. Figuring it was about the company, he walked over. "Mom, Dad, I've been handling the company stuff. I didn't mention Jace stepping down because I didn't think it was a big deal…"
"Jace stepped down?" Quincy asked, surprised. "When did this happen? Jace didn't tell me anything."
Quincy had no idea the old board member had resigned.
Melissa chimed in, "Daniel, I trust you can handle this. You're not a kid anymore. Isn't it time to start thinking about getting married?"
Oh, so it was this again. Daniel sighed. "Mom, Dad, I want to focus on building my career before I think about marriage."
"You're doing great already. You know your father's health hasn't been the best. He's had two major surgeries. We just want to see you happy, Daniel."
Daniel clenched his fists slightly.
Feeling cornered, he said, "I get it. I'll get married soon."
With that, he headed back upstairs.
Melissa was about to follow him when Quincy stopped her.
"He's already agreed. What more do you want? Give him some space."
Melissa sighed, "I'm just worried."
Quincy said, "Worrying too much will only make things worse."
Melissa had to give in. "The most important thing to me is you and Daniel. Because of Natalie, Daniel refuses to get married. His friends already have kids, and I'm anxious. I don't get what's so special about Natalie that Daniel can't forget her. Remember Natalie and Adrian's wedding, when Alice suddenly charged with a knife, and Daniel stepped in front of Natalie to protect her? From that moment, I knew Natalie had ruined Daniel."
"You're blowing this out of proportion. It's not that serious." Quincy squeezed Melissa's hand reassuringly. "Daniel is exceptional, and he'll have a happy future. Don't push him too hard. It'll only backfire."
"What's so bad about it? Natalie is married now; she's Adrian's wife, yet he still can't forget her. I'm setting up a date for him tomorrow. If the previous ones weren't right, we'll find new ones. In a city as big as Vachilit, there must be plenty of young, beautiful women. Daniel can't possibly reject them all. And think about Natalie's background—a maid's daughter! Even though she's Adrian's wife now, she still isn't fit to be Daniel's wife, even if she weren't married."
Quincy frowned and lowered his voice, "Melissa, it's fine to say that to me, but don't say it around the house. If someone hears, it could stir up trouble."
